Watching news in Seattle. Reports of a person stealing a Q400 and flying over Puget sound and crashing on Ketron Island in the south sound. Flight Aware shows a Pierce County Sheriffs plane circling that island. F-15's scrambled from PDX.

It’s a pile of rubble now burning in the woods in Pierce County. I’m seeing reports that one of the F-15s that was scrambled engaged it.

Wow, this doesn't happen everyday. I'm curious for the details.
That explains the two fighters I heard and felt take off in a hurry before dark tonight. They were burning a lot of JP8 I can tell you that.

I ignored this post because—even though I’m familiar with many aircraft—the term “Q400” meant nothing to me. A more descriptive post title would have been helpful.

It's a Dash 8 but this model is the Q400. That's what it is...
