Good day all. Lost one of our Aussies couple of months ago, and may be looking for a new pup. Anyone have any breeder recommendations in the Nashville area? Wil be willing to travel a bit. Mini’s or full sized.

I would probably start here; https://australianshepherds.or...e/finding-a-breeder/ and see who's in your area. I think they or another group have a Facebook page and reading there might be a good idea to get a feel for the strengths of each breeder and who to stay away from. A serious hobby breeder will sell what they call pet quality dogs that aren't for show and often less expensive than backyard "breeders" that are really hacks. When we lost our last one several years ago I followed one of the rescue groups and found our then 11 month old tri male that came from a great breeder in California, along with all of his health records back through great grandparents. He was owned by an older couple who realized they bit off too much at their age and re-homed him to us. Many on those rescue sites will barely resemble a real Aussie but you'd be surprised what pops up there if you have patience. ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.

The Boston location of the MSPCA has 8 puppy’s currently available Iirc there was a backyard breeder busted recently that had a bunch. I’ll see if I can find the Aussie rescue group that has them ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Live today as if it may be your last and learn today as if you will live forever

I got my pup Ahyoka for Ridgeline Aussies. In Burkesville, KY., look up Ridgeline Aussies on Facebook. Ahyoka is National Stock Dog Registry (NSDR) registered. Ridgeline Aussies are closer to you than me, almost an hour close. Ahyoka is a great pup! I would drive the 3+ hour again, and I just might. I'm thinking about getting another Aussie, and Ridgeline Aussies is the first I'm going to look. ARman

Aussies can have a variety of genetic issues so I'd avoid backyard breeders or dogs from backyard breeders, even at a rescue. There are some very sad stories of people getting dogs and later finding issues a few years later like epilepsy that are terminal and incurable. ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.

Not your average kind of girl |
sybo, If you aren't looking for a working dog but more so a companion/family dog check out some of the Australian Shepherd Double Merle pups. You would be giving a great home to cast aside pups from bad breeding practices. Most often they are deaf at a minimum sometimes they have vision impairment or blindness. I can say from experience that the deafness was not an issue for Willow and me. She learned hand signals and lived the life of a regular dog. She was a happy girl and a great companion. Let me know if you are interested in more info! And, no worries if not. Good luck with your search! If it won't matter in 5 years don't give it more than 5 minutes.
