robbiedog"Losing a dog" and a song...
Last February we had to put our boy, Tuffy, down. His heart was enlarged, he was 14, and had stopped eating. All you folks know how hard this is. I think it's the 7th dog I've had to do this kindness for, and it doesn't get easier. Since I'm a songwriter, the day after we had to do this I wrote a song, "Boat on the Horizon", which is how I dealt with my grief and guilt. Yeah, guilt, because it just hurts to do this - even though it was the right thing to do.
Anyway, this song won't help you heal from having to put a pet down, but you will hear the universal truth about it. If I didn't tell you then you wouldn't know it's about putting "Tugboat Tuffy" down. This is on my new album, and here's a youtube link. It's on all the other streamers too.
Boat on the Horizon by Rob WigleyThe line "Promises made, no matter the scar" references the promise we make to our dogs to do what's best when we have to.

220-9erVery familiar with this experience as our 12 year old Aussie had a sudden medical event this past Sunday morning.
Usually it’s a longer downhill spiral and you’re somewhat expecting it. This was very sudden and shocking.
Either way, it’s a very sad day.
