Don’t forget the newer electric traps. It’s like an electric chair for felons, then reusable.

A 5 gallon bucket with a roller on top works well. Two gallons of water in the bucket and some peanut butter on the roller.

That bucket trap above is the one I use out in my shop building. I used an old 5 gallon pail, a repurposed soda can, and a gas welding rod axle. Peanut butter bait. Even weeks old & moldy, the mice are still after the bait. The mice must have poor balance, they never get to actually eat the bait. My trap has even caught entire mice families. I place a board as a ramp, with a nail in the bottom of the board and hook the nail on the rim of the bucket. I have a old pasta utensil on the workbench for fishing out the floaters. My neighbor has a bunch of barn cats, I put the floaters on the stone wall for the cats. In winter, I add old automobile antifreeze to the bucket. Those winter floaters go in the trash. When it gets warm in the spring, I switch back to using plain water. I catch 3 - 4 dozen per year. I'm out in the country, farm fields for neighbors. When I found mouse turds up under the rear seat cowl on my new Yamaha sport bike while changing the battery, I got REAL serious about trapping the little bastards. Get yourself one! I have never liked glue traps. I use snap traps with peanut butter. Quick kills, easy disposal, and they're reusable. If it's for inside your house, chances are you're only getting the tip of the iceberg for rodents in your home. I would consider putting bait stations outside the perimeter of your house and in the crawlspace. If you see one or two in the house, there's probably a mess of them elsewhere out of sight. When we've seen a few mice in the house or evidence of their presence (poop), we found a whole lot more in the crawlspace. Use some exclusionary measures on any tiny gaps that would allow the little shits in. Coarse steel wool works great for stuffing in small crevices and holes; patch larger openings. ___________________________________________ "Why is it every time I need to get somewhere, we get waylaid by jackassery?" -Dr. Thaddeus Venture

I used Victor brand a few years ago as a trial. They were very effective at first, then the little bastards learned to avoid them.

I think snap traps are the way to go. Put the peanut butter on the bottom of the switch so it not easy to remove. I remember the one time a friend used a glue trap mat. The entire mat went MIA and he never found it. Still a mystery to this day.

I gave up on glue traps. Caught several small birds and a bunch of lizzards. Snap traps. If you're goin' through hell, keep on going. Don't slow down. If you're scared don't show it. You might get out before the devil even knows you're there. NRA ENDOWMENT LIFE MEMBER

the ones in Home Depot and Lowes are horrible and don't work well. we have a store that sells commercial rodent and insect products to the public. they stock the glue traps like Orkin uses. the work very well ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Live today as if it may be your last and learn today as if you will live forever

I bought a bunch of glue traps one time and after getting the glue on me once that was the end of those. Have always just used bait blocks. I built a bunch of 1 1/2 pvc t bait holders and place them around the outside of the house and around the perimeter of my yard. I have a bunch of bird seed feeders so they really attract the mice. I also have a bunch of snap traps the i will put in the garage and shop if i see turds. May have to give the bucket trap a try. Will just have to place it where Dixie my bloodhound cannot get to it and eat the peanut butter off. Had to be extra careful when using traps to hide them from her.

Ended up having to throw out a pair of shoes once after inadvertently stepping on one. Nothing would get that glue off of the sole. I use Ramik rodenticide blocks and supplement with Jawz snap traps. You don't even need to bait them, just place them against the walls where meeses travel and put the jaws facing inward. They'll walk right over them and that's the end. ________________________________________________________ "Great danger lies in the notion that we can reason with evil." Doug Patton.

The electronic traps that look like a mailbox work really well and zap them dead.

Bait blocks/poison have 2-downsides: - rodent consumes - then dies INSIDE - other critters - cat-dog-chippy--can get hold of it "No matter where you go - there you are"

Years ago I woke up one morning to a still-alive mouse and upside-down trap glued to my kitchen floor. Never, ever again…

I used one. Once. Caught one in the guest bathroom and thought to myself, "Ok, now what do I do w/ him"? I'm looking at him. He's looking at me. Turns out he was pissed and w/ one front leg free and when I went to pick up the trap he tried to stretch out to bite my hand. I guess I should have kept the box to read about what to do after catching the mouse.

Used glue traps one time in a fishing cabin, they were a mess and I didn't want to listen to the live mouse squeal. I went and bought snap traps. Turns out the mouse trap invented in the 1890s and a piece of cheese works just fine! I have a few SIGs.

Also wear rubber gloves anytime you touch a rat trap. They can smell very good and if they smell human oils and such from your hands they'll be very shy to go after the bait in the trap. I use the electric mailbox looking one or the snap traps, wouldn't mess with a glue trap for anything, who wants to deal with a live mouse or rat.
