Implicit in her failure to appear is the sentiment that her remarks about harassing administration officials are legitimized and justified because she herself is being threatened and harassed.

Some of that "dog whistle" stuff, y'see.

It's complete horse shit, of course. Even if there were any threats against her which caused her to forego the event in question (which I do not believe), Waters initiated the exchange. To call her remarks provocative doesn't even begin to cover it.

I think she may already have one, Capitol Police got real pro-active after the ball field shooting. However, I doubt it's a huge or 24/7 detail.
