What a great karma .. please include me.

One of the best things about America — “A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”

The second amendment!

Thanks for the chance.

I am a proud American who still believes in the land of the free and the home of the brave.

This karma is very fitting for our free country after seeing what was just declared in Canada.

Thanks. Much of life is what one makes of it, carve out the best slice you can. With the negatives the USA is still where it’s at.

A neighbor took this shot some years ago, and it has come to mean a lot to me. My property is off in the distance lower left. It is a small slice of heaven to me- rural America.

While I would usually post a picture of some kind I think I will just say that what I think makes America great is our ability to disagree, bitch and moan with each other or the government. We may have lost some of that plot but we are still far better then many places on this planet.

....hey I am trying to be optimistic. Big Grin

I would like my name thrown in the hat, please and thank you.

What's good about the USA is this:

Last week, May 24, when I was in Prescott waiting for my eye surgery later that day, I got to talking with a guy who came out of an RV trailer behind his pick up truck. He was in the parking lot of Best Western and I was there walking my dogs.

He said he just came from the VA hospital and was going to walk to a pawn shop to try to pawn his tv and military patches he got from his dad. He said he had to do that because he was stranded as his money ran out. He said he was usually good with his disability pay but additional expenses left him with more days at the end of the month than his money. We spent about a half hour chatting what he did in the Navy and after he got out. I gave him $23 and directions to the VFW post which was 6 miles down the road. I had to convince him that even though he wasn't a "war" veteran, the VFW will help him out.

I didn't ask for verification and I don't think the post did either. But when I emailed the post to report my encounter so that they can log it in some report about what the VFW does for veterans and the community, the commander replied that Robert did came by and they gave him $200 to get him to his destination.

That's a good feeling that I can point a veteran to a group that will help him without him having to go through hoops. It makes me proud to be a member of the VFW and the U.S.A.

And thanks for this karma thread but I've already received mine in spades. Thank you, 12131. Sincerely.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

I would like to put my name into the hat, please.

I have been trying to figure out how to express my belief that the United States is special and everything sounds trite to my head but the fact is that I believe that this country is unique and wonderful. Through education and hard work I have been able to improve my life and that of my family and I am fortunate that I live here and can raise myself and mind.
