I completely understand why you wouldn't want your daughter going into modern day law enforcement, knowing what you know.

But on the other hand, she's going into it with eyes wide open and with a leg up on just about everyone else in that regard, having already seen "behind the curtain" for her entire life. So she knows (mostly) what she's getting herself into too.

And the truth is that we will continue to need quality young men and women like her to take up the mantle as us veteran guys head out into retirement.

She'll do great things.

That is my biggest fear. My daughter turns l0 today and I am shaking in my boots that she will follow me into law enforcement. Unfortunately she has the exact right temperament for the job.

Best wishes to her. I hope she finds it rewarding and sees attitudes toward law enforcement change for the better in coming years.

Glad to see you support her choice and are proud to have her as a colleague. Hope she prospers in her new career. Thanks to you both for doing what you do.

Congratulations to you for raising a daughter who is level headed and who knows what she wants and knows what she is getting into to.

That said, she's an adult and you can take solace that you raised her right.

As she grew more serious, I tried to steer her to federal law enforcement. She wouldn’t go for that. I tried to them steer her toward other local agencies that pay more.

That window is still open! Secret Circus, DEA, US Marshals... Not a bad life, and they get to still be "the Police" to an extent, travel around, do some cool stuff.

Is it possible to extend congratulations and condolences at the same time?

Tell her GOOD LUCK in her career!!!

Hopefully all is well with the Echo-3 Son too.
Is he in the Land Down Under? My Lil Bro is there for a few more weeks.

Why yes he is. Landed in Sydney about a month or so ago. I think the PI is the next stop if I heard it right. He tries to be secretive about opsec, but having spent time in the AO, it’s pretty clear where they are.

Jerry, you raised your kids with your values, and their choices reflect that and their admiration for the extremely important work you have done. It's bittersweet, especially these days, but there is something special--irreplaceable really--about the family you have raised in honor and integrity. God bless.

Spent about 18 months with 3rd Mar Div, yeah, I know the places as well. Glad he's doing good as well!

Hilarious part is that he’s all secretive, but the det social media usually calls out where they are before they land. Between the New Orleans social media, and 2/1 social media, the world knows where they are.

Congratulations and I wish your daughter well!

My son is a Lieutenant and detective in his department and he is eligible to retire next January. I'm not sure he will, but I think he should. The last few years have been difficult.

2/1. Huh...
Let me see if I can get their deployment / training schedule from my Lil Bro.

Mess with him, YOU tell HIM where he's going!
