As backing seems to be a big concern and your buying new most trucks come with a backup camera and sensors. Just a thought.

Backup cameras are the norm on pickups and vans today, even if the one you select doesn't have one its easy to add one at very little cost aftermarket.

The issue with a van is that you'd be living in the enclosed interior any resultant fumes from the chemicals, dry or wet.

The question is over time, with exposure to them, is it bad for your health. If you are going with a van a trailer with the pump and wet chems may be safer health wise, and have the advantage that on days you are not spraying chems, you could disconnect and store it in your garage.

The Pickup with camper shell that opens on all sides like was pictured earlier seems a good option.

Another other concern is damage to the vehicle from spills/overflow/leaks might want to check into what harm they would cause to a truck bed or van interior. A bed liner might be worth it's weight to preserve the truck.

Ok, I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with a GMC 3500, 2-door, long bed, 2WD, 4 wheels (not 6).

I'm going to run the truck builder and add the options I want over the next couple of days.

Concerning Knapheide, I don't think they understand what I want and they keep trying too fit me into something that's not going to work. As much as I hate the idea, I think the cap is going to be the only real-world solution.

A client of mine makes a ton of money on pest spraying, both residential and commercial, OUTDOOR only spraying. Does large soccer fields for the county etc, all of his rigs are decked out pickups or dedicated spray trucks, no vans. He has a few trailers that he pulls smaller drive on sprayers with.

Sounds like a solid rig Mark. You could order it without a bed and find a utility or flatbed type bed to install on it. I am curious what kind of a price you have been able to negotiate for it. That rig is not a high demand model I would not think.

The reg cab HD is pretty much non-existent, the ones that we did get were chassis only. 2019 ordering/building for those is done. The 2020 reg cab ordering won't open until July, production begins in September. I expect it to be slim pickins again.

What is abundantly available is the double cab HD's. You should be able to get whatever you want in a double cab configuration, especially gas engine. Sold ordering for the 2019 is open until August and production won't stop until December.

This is the last of the 6.0 V8, a hell of an engine. The new 2020 HD will get 6.6 gas.

Current rebates are $4000-$4500 for business owners on the HD double cab, They will probably get better soon.

When you do go to order your truck, make sure you find a GMC dealer that has a " Business Elite" department, not all will. If you walk in to a non Business Elite dealer they might look at your like your are speaking Chinese regarding a work truck

Use this link to find your local dealers, click on Business Elite dealers box

After trying to deal with the localest GMC dealer, I took BigSwede's advice and called the closest Business Elite dealer. I asked for the business elite salesman and was connected to used cars. She stated she had to ask for help with new cars and she'd call me back. I suppose it doesn't matter who takes my order but isn't the point of calling business elite to get someone to understand what you need and make specific suggestions for options and such?

That sucks, sounds like you got a hold of the wrong person. Go to their website and find the Business Elite sales managers name and contact him/her directly.

I did it and was told that I can't order yet. I told them I already talked to two dealers that confirmed that I can order. I offered to no longer waste their time with trying to give them my business and they accepted. That was Baglier Buick GMC in Butler, PA.

What the cluck! Why doesn't anyone want my friggen money?!

I'm not sure it matters but that dealership is one hour away. Butler is half that.

There's a dealer in town but they keep asking me to come back another time. So far three appointments have been rescheduled after insisting that I come. The last time, on 7/18, was as I was pulling up to the light at the intersection that the dealership is on. I was ready to place the order.

If he's worth a crap you should be able to get this ordered over the phone or email. Probably have to give him a small deposit, credit card over phone or mailed check. But I can't make these people be smart or give a shit.

Mark, you might need a road trip. Bite the bullet, order it from BigSwede. Yeah, it's Georgia, but bendable says that you can load it up with watermelons for the trip back home. Vidalia onions, too.

Bigswede was kind enough to reach out to me when we were shopping new work trucks. We ended up needing something larger than GM made at the time, otherwise he would have had our business.

Buy it from somebody who wants your business, fly out, and drive it back.

Just keep looking for a dealer that is interested in making the sale, if they don't have the dept BS is talking about it's safe to presume they don't value commercial business or their market isn't ripe for that type of business.

Flying to GA to get what you want might be a good idea, you get the vehicle you want, and a nice little vacation.

Heck you might even get some good southern BBQ and a Pie from Paras favorite pie guys...
