It’s time. I’m done playing games. I’m ditching Huntington. Does anyone have any suggestions for a bank in the west Chicago suburbs? I’m looking for a checking account and a few different savings accounts. I’m not running a business or looking for loans. I’d really like to find a bank that has customer service that doesn’t take an hour to get on the phone and representatives that can speak fluent English.
If not, there are a number of online banks with good reviews.
I use Bask Bank as one of my banks, which is out of Texas. (It's an online-only spinoff of Texas Capital Bank, which is a physical bank.) Customer service is US-based. They offer both high interest savings accounts at 5.1%, as well as interest checking accounts that pay 1%. With their checking account, since they don't have ATMs themselves you instead have access to a nationwide network of ATMs with the bank refunding any ATM fees that you might accrue from using them.
If you or anyone in close family are active, retired, or honorably discharged U.S. Military, any branch, you're eligible for membership in Navy Federal Credit Union.
Best bank / credit union that I have used.

Contact them and see. Better to ask and be certain than to assume and miss an opportunity.

Local credit union. I almost couldn't be happier with mine. "Almost" because they pay poor interest on savings accounts. But that's why I have part of my savings in an Amex high(er) yield account. They'd know me by name were I not getting my "paychecks" direct-deposited.
