At its peak in northern Colorado ~95%. Not enough UV to activate the tint in my eye glasses. Felt like a different planet for a few minutes.

It was almost as cool as a little cloud passing overhead.

The people who traveled for this "event" should have saved time and just lit their money on fire.
What it looks like isn't the main attraction, it's the interesting-ness and rarity of the celestial event. Understanding what's happening as you see, and how rare it is, and what it takes to happen, that is what's worth seeing / doing. Is all of that lost on you? Is all of that truly as blah and common as clouds, to you? Different strokes, I guess.
The moon passed in front of the sun. An event that changes absolutely nothing other than start the clock on when the next one will occur.
Am I missing anything? No? Okey dokey then.

Pretty well, except for one of us that is.

I went outside to see about the same thing as your picture. I knew it wouldn't be very spectacular here so didn't make any preparations. The one in 2024 is supposed to have Totality in north Texas so I'll probably try for that one (if I'm still alive, of course--I'm 79 and don't really know what will be true 7 years from now).

WarhorseOnly 80% coverage here in the downriver area of metro Detroit, but it was still very interesting to see.
I was impressed.

Jus228a subtle change in daylight here but if I hadn't known about the eclipse I doubt I would have noticed.
Now the view through the welding helmet on the other hand was awesome. Watching the moon go from the right side of the sun to the middle where it covered up a 60% of the sun and then to the left side of the sun and then it was less and less until it was back to an orange ball. Very very cool to witness.

LS1 GTOI think it would have been kind of cool to see Venus and/or Mercury high in the sky instead of just on the horizon.
Did anyone here note either of the planets high in the sky?

rscalzoBarely noticeable here in NH. At the beach and some could moving over caused more of a reduction of sunlight. Really expected to see more darkness.

CopefreeWe had a 92% here north of Seattle. It was cool to see -- it was a little eerie looking outside -- the birds started chirping like it was morning, we lost quite a bit of light, and the temperate dropped noticeably.
Our neighbor had an extra set of eclipse glasses so we were able to watch it.

Mustang-PaPaHad a great time right here at my home.
Dug out two pancake welding shields I had.
Cleaned them up and put #12 lenses in them for my wife and I.
One of my daughters that lives very close by and step daughter in-law who lives down the street in our lake home also stopped by.
So we had a real good time for a week day visit.
The daughter also brought her little dog which is Dixie my bloodhounds best buddy/play friend so they had fun playing in the cool house.
Couple of neighbors saw us all out and came over to view it through the welding lenses which they wouldn't have seen it otherwise.
Had to end up pulling the auto-dark pack out of my welding hood. Funny the quality wasn't as good as through just the lenses.
The darkness was really weird and I was able to get them to look at the shadows of the pecan leaves on just the dirt ground which showed like SigSentrys great picture above.
The birds did get really quite at times when the grey/darkness was at its peak.
So all in all it turned out to be a great little get together here...

StorminNorminHere is the image I had with my poor man's projector of two pieces of paper and an iPad. It got a little dimmer, almost like you were wearing sunglasses but yet you weren't. In October 2023 and April 2024 we will have two good solar eclipses and my house should be in the path of the full eclipse in 2024 as long as we aren't cloudy that day.

Agreed. "Had" to be in Cuba, MO today for work (

) and got a real treat. As someone else noted the 360 degree sunset was awesome. So was taking in the totality with the naked eye; seeing the black moon completely covering the sun, and the absolutely pure white light of the corona was amazing.

Mars_AttacksHere's my E-clips day.
The rig I brought to the park at the reservoir in Dahlonega.
These glasses might be fakes.
I was the cool kid at the park.
Even Awesome-O dropped in on the festivities.

Got really dark here and cooled dramatically.
Really extraordinary.
I'm local to you, and couldn't agree more. It was extraordinary. The quality of the changing light was somewhat eerie. And the drop in temperature was very welcome!
