The Talking Heads and Elected Things keep on talking Democracy
The Talking Heads and Elected Things keep on talking Democracy as our form of government but we are a Federal Republic. Am I missing something Here?

Yes, we live in a republic, however, it is commonly referred to in the press as a democracy.

The media, like the populace in general, are ignorant.

Any education in civics ended around 1970. Most people under 50 today have no idea how their government works.

Most people under 50 today have no idea how their government is SUPPOSED to work.

Most people under 50 also have no knowledge of History farther back than 1980 (if that far). Like Civics, American and World History has not been adequately taught in several decades. It is no wonder that there are so many addled adults in the country who are totally clueless about things.

Slight drift: These are the same people who refer to non-LEO's as "Civilians"

Hint 1: if you don't have a Geneva Convention ID card, then you too are a Civilian. With the exception of Military Police, Shore Patrol, etc., we have a civilian police force. Just the way it is.

Hint 2: There's some on-line dictionary that makes this same mistake and defines all non-LEO's, non-Firefighters and non-Military as Civilians. It's wrong, so don't quote it.

Well, it's partially correct--all those people ARE civilians; but non-military LEOs and Firefighters are, too.

The reference to our govt as a democracy is intentional. There is a purpose to it that will result in destruction of individual liberty and prosperity. The rest of those who call us a democracy do it out of ignorance.

Well, our government IS a Democracy, because many issues are decided by a vote of the whole population, and the majority wins. It is not a pure Democracy, because other issues are not subject to a vote by the citizenry, but are decided by representatives who are voted into control (and subject to removal the same way). This is a "Representative Democracy". Going further, We are a "Republic" because some decisions and policies are made at local and state level, not at the federal level. The original intent was for most decisions to be made below the federal level, only limited issues were assigned to the federal government.

Over time, our government has become more and more "federal", with the individual states having less and less power. This trend must be stopped and reversed. One advantage of nott having uniform rules in all states is, that if one state has rules a person doesn't like, there might be another one that is a better fit. Overall, the Constitution exists to insure that, although not all the same, certain minimum rights exist across the board.

I understand that. What you wrote is omitted from education and in its stead is placed 'democracy'. Technically correct, but the safety mechanisms are ignored. It is intentional.
