Only 4 Cubs Players Make It Out of Dugout for National Anthem — Then Crowd Rudely Blocks Marines From Leaving the Field (VIDEO) The crowd stopped the anthem singer to take selfies and blocked the Marines as they were trying to get up the stairs. “Like I’ve always talked about, everybody’s got the right to express themselves in the manner in which they feel,” Cubs manager Joe Maddon said. “I’ve always felt that way.” https://www.thegatewaypundit.c...ing-the-field-video/ MAGA NRA Gun Owners of America

It happened in Chicago, so I'm not totally surprised. But I am disappointed. When looked at the twitter pic - to see who had courage and balls! - I noticed the crowd was full of men with their hats still on during the national anthem. Has it? I'm not defending anyone, but I'd like to know a whole lot more about what happened than just this story. Baseball has made it a point to try and distance itself from the NFL nonsense (seeing what its done to that sport), so I'm not completely buying into this reported event being an NFL style protest, especially with the Cubs team. Remember the no-name A's catcher who took a knee last year? Well, he no longer plays baseball, nor is he likely to in the future. That incident was squashed almost as fast as it happened. ----------------------------- Guns are awesome because they shoot solid lead freedom. Every man should have several guns. There seems to some disagreement as to what went on in the vid/comment links, particularly the "blocking" of the Marine guard. Is it a factor that the Gateway Pundit is out of St. Louis? Set the controls for the heart of the Sun.

I agree I would like to know more about this particular indecent. There could be a legit reason why they were not able to get to the field. But Bruce Maxwell knelt several times during last season and it didn't get near the press as when Kapernick did it. Here is MLBs statement on the matter, which is pretty much the same as how the NFL played it.

Cropped photo. Many times the players are still in warmups when the national anthem is sung. The picture apparently shows two players and two trainers that were in the outfield when the anthem started. Most of the other players are probably by the dugout. I've done a search, and found no other mention of the Cubs not out for the anthem on Monday.

Too old to run, too mean to quit! |
Have not watched pro baseball for nearly as long as I have not watched the NFL. In the present case, I find it disgraceful that the whole team was not on the field for the anthem and demonstrated the appropriate response! Was there a hidden message there? Do not care, even a little bit. They should all have been on the field showing the proper respect! Another collection of overpaid and spoiled athletes. Not saying it is Okay, but there are a shit ton of Foreigners in MLB. It was very surprising to see a foreigner that was on one of the clubs(Reds?) that sings every time it is played. He knows very little English but knows every word and what it means. He also sings it so much louder than anybody around him that the crowd always hear him. This is utter bullshit. The moron used a pic that wasn't of the entire field and then he forgot to twist his outrage panties over the members of the crowd wearing hats during the anthem. If you're going to go full retard you ought to at least have the fucking courtesy to be consistent.

How many players in the MLB are actually American citizens? Aren't a lot of them from the Caribbean? In the picture, I think the one person I saw wearing a cap was a female--rules are different for them, I think (and she probably forgot she was wearing it). flashguy Texan by choice, not accident of birth

This doesn’t add up. I have watched more baseball the last two years than the previous 70, between the Rangers and MLB. I haven’t seen any noticeable disrespect, and have noticed several times the near universal observance of fans in the 7th inning stretch to God Bless America. Quite a few MLB athletes from Caribbean and Latin American areas seem awfully happy to be here playing baseball. Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me. When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

Fwiw, it is not customary for mlb teams to be united all on the field warming up before the game when the anthem is sung. Some are, some are not. Some are in the dugout, some are in the clubhouse, some are throwing in the bullpen, some are throwing in the outfield, some are stretching, etc. It is not something where the whole team comes out as one for the anthem, except in special occasion games when they entire roster is introduced (season opener, all star game, some playoff games.) So the absence of players on the field is not at all out of the ordinary. I'm gonna vote for the funniest frog with the loudest croak on the highest log.

FWIW, the pre-game activities at the Ballpark in Arlington (or whatever it's called now) are not televised, in particular the performance of the National Anthem is not. Those 90 seconds are usually used for commercials. I have often complained about that (since I've sung the Anthem with a men's group there several times). At least that facility uses good judgment when selecting artists to perform the Anthem! flashguy Texan by choice, not accident of birth
