Do they? Was looking on the lot this morning and saw 4x4 F150 four door trucks that showed an average of 22 MPG (19-26). I know some of the 2wd trucks are getting it, but are the four wheel drive's doing it too? Dealer had a really good deal on a 2015 four door four wheel drive.

Edge seeking Sharp blade! |
It wouldn't surprise me, especially with the V6 Ecotec engine. My 4.8 Silverado has gotten 20 with the factory Goodyear no tractions but apparently low rolling resistance tires. I doubt 4DW eats up too much these days, On my 2003 Silverado the only drag added when in 2WD mode over a full 2WD is 2 U-joints on each front stub axle, and the spider gears turn since the RF axle is disconnected. Plus a Morse chain in the transfer case running in ATF, and a T case lube pump.

I think so. Wife's '17 Silverado crew cab 4x4 regularly gets 21 on the interstate running 75. Of course, it's built pretty light. I bet the tailgate doesn't weigh half as much as the one on my 97 F250.

TBG (The Beautiful Girl) has a 2012 5.0 F150 4x4. She gets around 15.5 mpg in stop and go around town and 21-22 on the highway with 385 hp, a boatload of torque and 11,000 lbs. towing capacity, and that is the LEAST fuel efficient of the standard F150 trucks. I have a friend with the smaller v6 turbo, and he is averaging 19 or so; better on the highway, and he can still tow around 7k. He has no complaints about performance, either. My 2016 2wd 2.7EcoBoost crew cab is averaging 19-21 with about 50/50 city/hwy. I've seen mid to high 20s full highway at 75-80mph. The Enemy's gate is down.

Glorious SPAM! |
I have done a lot of driving in a 2014 F150 4X4 with the 5 liter and it gets 18 MPG around town. The highway gets 18-20 but not much more. With its 36 gallon tank it can go 600 miles before a fillup. I'm impressed. In the last 20K miles it had a low of 15.7 and a high of 20.3. The low was kind of a fluke, lots of idling and off highway stuff. It easily pulls 18 consistently with normal driving. Better than my personal Grand Cherokee with the 4.7 HO that struggles to get 16.

I average 16 mpg with my 2012 3.5 Ecoboost 4X4 Supercrew. If I drove all highway miles I could get 22 mpg.

I have a 2017 Super Crew 4x4 3.5 eco with 10 speed transmission. On the highway at 70 - 75, I am getting 22/23. 385 hp with 470 lbs of torque. Sgt. USMC 1970 - 1973

I have a 13 F150 crew cab 4X4, 5.0. I get 16-18 in town and can get 20-24 on the highway. If you milk it and watch the little gas mileage use gauge you can do better, but all those numbers are close enough for me so I just drive it. It does do great going down a long hill with no throttle - like 99 mpg! Donald Trump is not a politician, he is a leader, politicians are a dime a dozen, leaders are priceless.

probably a good thing I don't have a cut |
Don't forget the 2015 and newer F150s are aluminum bodied so they're lighter. Better mileage is the whole reason they did that.

Yes, I believe they're around 700lbs lighter. I'd try to buy a brand new 2017 left over right now. Ford is throwing out insane rebates and incentives on them right now and you can probably buy one almost as cheap as the 2015 used one you're looking at.

Told cops where to go for over 29 years… |
We have a 2015 F150 XLT 4x4 SuperCrew with the 2.7L twin turbo EcoBoost motor. I’ve logged every gallon of gas the has gone into it. It is driven about 65-70% city as my wife is the usual driver. The high of 24.4mpg was all highway. (Disregard the 50/50 split graphic, I dont enter that in the fuelly app) Neither of us are particularly light on the pedal and when it is on the highway it is usually going 70-75mph. It has very good acceleration for the size of the motor and will chirp the tires if you turn off the traction control. We’ve been very happy with it. I also love the fact that it needs nothing but oil, filter, and fluid changes as far as maintenance for the first 100K miles. We just leased a 2017 F150 XLT 4X4 supercrew shortbed with the 3.5 Ecoboost, max tow and 3.55 diff to tow our camper. In a totally unrealistic 'experiment' where I was driving for as much gas mileage as I could at about 45 in a fairly level area of road with light traffic and no lights, my truck was approaching 30 mpg until I hit a light. All went down hill from there of course. On that trip, about 200 miles or so one way I was approaching 22 mpg and still climbing while driving upwards of 75-80. Pretty darn good for a big truck with barn door side view mirrors. And that truck has all kinds of performance.

A friend gets 20 with his N/A V6 2015 crew cab short bed 4x4. I average 11.2 with my 2010 6.2 Raptor.

Depends on the engine, the 2.7 Ecoboost driving like a grandma perhaps. Or, do they put a naturally aspirated V6 in those (if so, I can believe 22 overall). We have a '16 3.5L Ecoboost super crew. We are getting about 16 city and up to 20 highway. “People have to really suffer before they can risk doing what they love.” –Chuck Palahnuik Be harder to kill: https://preparefit.ck.page

No. Eco and Boost are 2 mutually exclusive terms. I've got a 2015 4x4 Supercrew with 3.5 Ecoboost and 3.55 gears. I've also leveled the front and have 33" BFG All Terrains. Power and acceleration are great, mileage not so much. Highway, around town, drive it like I stole it, drive like grandma 17mpg. Your mileage may vary. It's the tires and your gearing (with the large diameter tires.)
