Safety isn’t high on the priority list over there.

Well, in my world and the environment that I work in, "Emergency Stop (Shutoff)" and "Emergency Brake" mean two different things.

But you're right, this is all for entertainment. Now it's time for a cocktail. Ciao.

Very interesting 22 minute video of destructive tests on a chairlift including two different rollbacks. With the manufacturer in the video there are multiple levels of brakes but it was possible for a gearbox disconnect combined with operator error to have a very catastrophic rollback in minutes 4:25 to 8 (worse than the Georgia rollback):

I've skied a bit in Austria, Switzerland, and a little in France, and my opinion of the resort employees was that they were only there to flirt with the beautiful women and go drag your broken butt off the slopes if you busted it big time. I skied an entire two days in Jungfrau, Switzerland and only saw Ski Patrol in the lodge when I had lunch.

Skiing in Europe is most definitely a different experience than skiing in North America.

In a sense, you're pretty much on your own. You're expected to know what you're doing.

And/or you're expected to get the hell out of the way of those who do know what they're doing. Razz I don't speak French, but I'm pretty certain the individual who showered me with commentary when I busted it big time in front of him in a mogul field, probably was not of an encouraging nature.
