Just for the hell of it |
Or had a cracked glass back repaired. Normally I trade in my iPhone every 2-3 generations. At that point, I can normally trade it in for an ok value towards a new one. Well, I took the case off mine a few weeks ago to wipe it down only to find the back is cracked. I've never cracked a phone and this one has always lived in a case. No idea when it happened and would have never known until I took the case off. Could have been cracked for a day or months. Works fine. Can't even feel the crack if you run your finger over it but you can see it. So Apple will give me something like $35 to recycle it since it's cracked. Same with my carrier. None of the online places that buy phones want one if it's cracked. Repairing it seems to run over $200 so that doesn't seem worth it. Now, this brings me to where to sell it. eBay has many listings for iPhones that have cracked back. I just hate selling it through eBay and worry the buyer may say it doesn't work or something else once they get the phone. So has anyone sold an iPhone like this. _____________________________________ Because in the end, you won’t remember the time you spent working in the office or mowing your lawn. Wait, what? |
Which gen is it? How much memory? How is battery health? There is nothing functionally wrong with it, so there is probably someone out there that will buy it, especially if it’s a later gen with higher memory and they need a working phone. Certainly more than $35. As long as you disclose any damage (with pics) and package it well, the little missus says sellers can avoid buyers pulling a scam and getting their $ back. Carriers may also give a good bit more than the recycling fee depending on the above. “Remember to get vaccinated or a vaccinated person might get sick from a virus they got vaccinated against because you’re not vaccinated.” - author unknown

I've sold several on ebay but never a damaged one. It's always shocked me though when I see the selling prices of damaged iphones on ebay. Search completed listings and you'll get an idea.

Yes, I’m sold on iPhones – they are wonderful devices. But I got mine through a conventional seller. Specifically, T-Mobile. Serious about crackers

I sell any used phones I need to liquidate right here on SF. Somebody always needs one. No fees, pass the savings from the lack of fees (and then some) along to the buyer. They sell in a day. Everybody is happy.
