I made a quick trip to Home Depot and saw they had chest freezers in stock.

The brand was Magic Chef and they were 5 and 7 cf sizes.

I was in a hurry to get my stuff bought and get back home to work outside before it gets so dang hot today, 98 forecast for this afternoon, so I didn't inquire about the price. They were literally just now getting them in.

I have no idea about the brand name or reliability, but if you want one now you can check your local Home Depots.

This is a good sign, we were told that units would not be available until late Summer/early Fall.

If you want to wait a little longer we should start seeing more brand names and sizes come available.

Good luck to all y'all.

Oh, and by the way, if you're close to SE Michigan, gas up the truck and buy from Appliance Brad when he has some in stock. Brad needs cigar money!

Ain't that the truth!

And probably a state sized storage depot of toilet paper and paper towels.

Everything under 9 cu ft is made in Asia. These will be the first units that come back. Right now we are getting October dates on made in the U.S.A. (Ottawa, OH) whirlpool units.

Magic Chef is located in my town of Cleveland TN...if you live here I can bet you have Magic Chef appliances... I have always had good service from the brand...stoves, dish washers and washers and dryers...I’ve never owned a freezer or ice box from them but everything else has been GTG.

Two weeks or so ago we finally ordered an upright Whirlpool freezer from Lowe's. HD was offering none. Lowe's said September; we'll see.
We're doing OK on food and food storage, but frozen loaves of homemade bread take up quite a bit of room.
