Hello to all. I was hoping the brain trust here at the Sigforum could help me find a good charity that help out Veterans. I believe someone here had a list of good charities but, I cannot seem to locate it. Thanks!

Helping a Hero. "If you’re a leader, you lead the way. Not just on the easy ones; you take the tough ones too…” – MAJ Richard D. Winters (1918-2011), E Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne "Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil... Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel." - Isaiah 5:20,24

During my years participating in the Combined Federal Campaign, the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (as linked by Sigmonkey) and Fisher House were both among the 4 charities I donated to. I just did a Christmas donation to SOWF. _______________________________________________________ despite them

The Navy Seal Foundation is my favorite charity. I also want to plug my own organization: PAWS Assistance Dogs. We train service dogs for combat wounded veterans and have a platinum rating from GuideStar.

This one! They have helped my family. They allow loved ones to be with injured servicemen. You can donate your frequent flyer miles. No cash required. I strongly recommend them. Jesse Sic Semper Tyrannis

I favor Paralyzed Vets, Disabled Vets and VFW. They have minimal administrative overhead and do great service to our vets.

I concur with every charity posted so far in this thread. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "The trouble with our Liberal friends...is not that they're ignorant, it's just that they know so much that isn't so." Ronald Reagan, 1964 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Arguing with some people is like playing chess with a pigeon. It doesn't matter how good I am at chess, the pigeon will just take a shit on the board, strut around knocking over all the pieces and act like it won.. and in some cases it will insult you at the same time." Another vote for this one. I've donated to them before. "It is a capital mistake to theorize before one has data. Insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts." Sherlock Holmes

Stay away from WWP. Still don't trust them, although Steven Nardizzi has been fired. Q

there might be a local vet's home , charity or cause that needs immediate help, in your general vicinity . ask around in your home town, instead of going the national route. you might very well be able to see the difference that your contribution will make. example: our area has a dozen carpenters who take donations , and in their spare time ( one weekend a month) they build either stairs or ramps to aide those with limited abilities. Safety, Situational Awareness and proficiency. Neck Ties, Hats and ammo brass, Never ,ever touch'em w/o asking first

operationpaperback.org You read a book, it sits on your shelf. Send it to a servicemember to read. You tell them the type(s) book(s) you have, they match you to someone. You mail the book directly. Karma for other readers.

That is cool! Prior to going digital, I used to read 2 novels every business trip and have boxes of best sellers I didn’t know what to do with. Lone Survivor is a good one and there is an organization that takes vets on cattle drives, apparently very theraputic.
