I was a kid that worked at Pizza Hut. Oh, maybe 1987 I think. The cook invited me out to his truck after close one night (we had been talking audio and car upgrades during closing). and I heard what four performance 8's can do. It was loud. But that is just it, he did not drive around booming, it was for cruising and competitions.

Anyway, I have always had a 'system' in my car. And it has always included a 8 or 10" sub. It gets unpleasantly loud. I can feel the sub hit my chest. But frankly it is not that loud outside of the car. And it only gets that loud on occasion Smile

Once I had two 12" subs and a big amp, it did not last a week and I sold it, It was just too much and was no longer balanced.

My point here is, the idiot doing that to the area, and his car is not about music, but about noise. really loud noise.

I thought the thumping would be a passing fad but it seems to survive among some. I too enjoy good sound and many kinds if music and vocals. There certainly is a difference. I even enjoy some older Vanessa Mae music playing her violins. Plus I like looking at her.. Big Grin I think I could enjoy a rack of Nathin Air Chime train horns to blast noise right back at them. And, posted above about the blown out speaker systems they blast, that is exactly how many of them sound.

We used to hunt those loud cars when I was policing. My first beat was a high income predominantly white area and had actual little crime.

When I was in training an old timer told me that writing one of those(loud noise ticket) was worth 3 arrests. That’s how much loud noise is despised.

This is the charge: “Did make a loud, disturbing and unnecessary noise to disturb the peace and quiet of the persons of Wilson, that could be heard over a distance of 50 feet” WCC 24-1

It is a misdemeanor and arrestable. Fine was $25 plus the cost of court (currently $176). So $201 for your “look at me, look at me” BS

I hate loud music, don’t care what it is , Bach, Mozart, Rap, David Lee Roth, country, doesn’t matter. Listen to what you want, don’t force it upon me.

But I don’t hear it here in Temple, and it’s awesome.
