I guess one could be like this guy: link And just jump right in and don't hold back. From the article......
I still can't figure out if he was joking or not. .

The Main Thing Is Not To Get Excited |
He might have thought it was funny but I can't see that it's a joke. There is an irony here in that back in the bad old days when men were men, this ass clown would have been removed from the stage by a lacrosse goalie and two shot putters. But now when the primary focus of any day on any campus seems to be to try to figure out the new vocabulary ("intersectionality" anyone?), by the time they got it figured out the damage was done. I happen to think the writer is a snow flake and a quasi-hysteric and if she was fearful because of the words this cretin used then she can really be in for a shock in other parts of the real world. The problem is one of manners and decency, not rape culture. The guy's an ass-maggot and should have been treated as such swiftly and seriously but in 'safe-space America' ain't happenin'. Of course I'm posting from a place of white-privilege informed by the hetero-normative, hyper-toxic masculine dominant culture, so what the heck do I know? Other than that she's a snow flake, I'm pretty down with that. _______________________

Don't bring a micro-aggression to a macro-aggression fight! The more I read of these types of events the more I wonder if some people really just need to be slapped upside the head then told to sit down, shut up and grow up.

Oh, she's a total snowflake. No question. Their school seems to be full of them. How about this guy (link) who wasn't even at the event, but wanted to write about his own microaggressions.
There are, in his mind, so many ways to cause a microaggression that he may as well only talk to other straight, white, able, American men and not even try to talk to anyone else. .

Thanks for Mansplaining that to us. "Crom is strong! If I die, I have to go before him, and he will ask me, 'What is the riddle of steel?' If I don't know it, he will cast me out of Valhalla and laugh at me."

You and I agree. This thread and the article highlights a dissonance with US society today. I think the speech and the list are reactionary extremes reflective of the discord. On one hand, someone in college thinks it's okay to present locker room thoughts in a mixed awards banquet and, on the other hand, someone thinks it's offensive to say America is the land of opportunity. Both of these point to something wrong with society today. "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

And Cal published a...list. Exactly how does anyone plan on policing these "microagressions"? One of the first things one learns in the UC system, if one hasn't learned it before arriving on campus, is how to tell a shrieking lily to buzz off.
