The acceleration out of corners was amazing. I think I’m a pretty good driver, no way I would be able to do that at that speed.

He didn’t even go down into the carousel, he just went around the top and held it. The grip/downforce on that car is amazing.

I watched a second time and payed attention to the cockpit shot of the driver and I can see why they need to be in top physical condition. He took a beating on that run. I can't imagine what it would be like to it in a long endurance race. Just that one lap would put me in the hospital.

Thanks for posting. I hadn't seen that before. I remember reading about the 'Yellow Bird' in Road&Track back in the day.

You guys are killing me. Makes my '69 Beetle seem like a monster. I remember when my older brother taught me how to do a slow-motion double-clutch to downshift into 2nd from 4th at about 60 mph. Listen to me roar! No, we didn't leave the transmission behind, and we didn't do it often...

LOL, yep. I've owned 3 but never had the balls to get that crazy! That driver is good. I love it when the motorcycle gets the hell out of his way. Top of my bucket list is to drive 2-3 laps on that track with a well-sorted air-cooled 911. Stick shift--no paddle shifters! I will do that before I die.
