I watched a video a friend sent me and it doesn’t even look real it’s so amazing. 229mph at one point.
I wish they would have done a timed run from a dig instead of a running start but it’s crazy nonetheless. This message has been edited. Last edited by: 1s1k,

That’s amazing. Would be fun to take a lap there...

Slowest I saw in the hairpin - 95kph = 59mph, fastest - 369 = 229mph. He was going through all those turns at ridiculous speeds. Amazing.

That sounds great but my 2003 Honda Civic has air conditioning AND cruise control.

I was a passenger with a Porsche factory driver at their test track in Weissach. That I did not stain my shorts or scream like a little girl is amazing.

I drove the ring in 1970 in a VW Bug.... as best I can recall my lap time was measured in days...

How about this for the 919 EVO?
“Porsche revealed an evolution of the 919 Hybrid on 11 April 2018, as it broke the lap record in Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps with a lap time of 1:41.77, with Neel Jani behind the wheel. The lap time was 0.783 seconds faster than Lewis Hamilton's flying qualification lap in 2017, previously posting a 1:42.553 in his Mercedes AMG F1 W08, a Formula One car.
BTW, Porsche is “considering” a return to F1 racing in 2021

We had a '61 Bug. The 0-60 time was "one afternoon".

Speed is one thing, but the handling in the corners is what really blew me away. The car is a technological marvel.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ And with that handling, I think the time could have been even faster. I'm not an expert race car driver, but I was thinking the driver could've driven deeper into several corners and gotten back on the gas faster. As it is, that friggin' blew me away!!!

Impressive for sure. The handling is amazing. I sure wish I could get my transmissions to shift that quickly That thing shifts almost instantaneously. I raced a Cadillac CTS-V for a few years and that thing was a complete dog compared to the 911 in the video. The CTS-V was no slouch either at 700HP at the rear wheels.

I checked my settings to make sure I didn't have it set at 1.25+. That was insane.

Just an inadvertent error, no doubt, but that’s obviously not a “911.” It’s the latest evolution of their Le Mans Prototype-class race car.

Exactly, this is an out and out RACE car. It SHOULD be amazingly fast.

Technically, its a tribute to the 919 Le Mans LMP1 car. Since Porsche is no longer participating in the LMP1 class, they are no longer beholden to rules and regulations. This car is just a "Hey, look what we can do without any limits placed on us" car and its freaking awesome. I understand that races need rules to make the racing "fair" but this is the kind of thing I really enjoy watching. Just a go as fast as you can by any means effort.

What I noticed was the fact that when the driver backed out of the gas, the car didn’t lose any momentum due to engine braking. I assume the electric motors took over when the driver was off the gas.
That was cool! Thanks for sharing!
