Years ago, I worked for a doctor who had a golfing buddy who lost his temper on a golf course. He threw his golf club against a bolder. The shaft snapped, and the jagged end of the shaft came back and hit the golfer in his right eye- blinded for good in that eye, no chance whatsoever of saving it.

Any bolders on this golf course, perchance?

If that happens, someone's going to have to retool the song, "Eye of the Tiger."

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

He might win another tournament, but at this stage in his career, there are too many younger players that are as good as, or better, than he is.

Insert trees for boulder and leg for eye and I've been there. Not my finest 16YO moment....

I don't know that that's quite accurate. Last week's tournament, with Tiger in contention on Saturday and Sunday had the highest TV ratings of any non-major tournament since 2013. That translates into real money.

The current crop of young PGA players may be as good or better than Tiger, but none of them draw TV viewers anywhere close to the way he does.

He is a jerk, among other things, but he WAS the best golf ball striker in the history of the game. I may not like him personally, but I have tremendous respect for what he could do with a golf club.

That could very well be, but while in his prime he got away with antics, like swearing loudly after a poor tie shot, throwing a club and treating his fans like shit including kids that any other tour player would have been fined for. Shame on the PGA for that fact.

Yeah, it's all about the money all right. Frown

That was still going on Sunday. Instead Furyk makes some lame apology about another player saying, clearly, "shoot".

He just did it today as I was watching him tee off. "GOD DAMMIT!" Still keeping it classy there Tiger.

Now let's see a few over the top fist pumps to really drive home how much of a dick you still are. Roll Eyes

And I see his mouth-breathing fans are back as well - "GET IN THE HOLE!!!!!!!"

I really wish he'd go away permanently.

He won't win, but this is definitely promising heading into Augusta. I have skipped the Master's the last few years but you can bet your ass I will be watching this go around.

Sadly, that’s a TOUR thing. The TOUR allows it. The douchenozzles who stand near the tee mics on every hole just to get their stupid douche comments heard on TV will never stop unless the TOUR bans it altogether.

Looks like 2 players on the leader board still on the course, but everyone else is in the clubhouse with Cheetah Woods tied for 5th.

Very true statement right there. A fan's behavior has zero effect on my respect for any golfers game or accomplishments.

He made a respectable showing.
I tend to look at the golf and he is great for golf now.
Seems petty to me to dwell on his frugality and past infidelity.
He paid a price but I am only interested in the golf.

Quoting the Bible on that guy's behalf.

Listen, the guy has a bad reputation, It hasn't faded. Some of us don't give a damn about his golf skills. I know I am not alone when I say I wouldn't care if he hit a hole in one every time he swung a club. It matters not to me.

Yes, all have sinned and fall short. But what if they show no remorse for their "sins", and continue in their "sins". Do we ignore such because it gives us pleasure?
