OK, these dang mosqitoes must be dealt with. Anyone use one of these electronic zappers? For the money ($6) it's worth at least a try.

Save the trouble and get a couple Thermacells.

It's the only thing I've found that will reliably keep them away.

I have a bug zapper like this that I use when I sit out to smoke a cigar at night. It works well and keeps the little bastards away from me. I set mine about 20 feet away from where I am sitting and it draws them to it, away from me. If it is sitting too close to you, they still bug you.

I got one at Harbor Freight, free gift, I believe.

We had an infestation of mosquitoes of sorts after the rains last spring. After I brought this one home, and zapped a few, they took their business elsewhere, it seems.

Every now and then some bug goes flying through here, when we leave the door open for the cats. The trick is getting the zapper quickly.

Once you do, and get it set, there is a satisfying SNAP! Much more rewarding that merely whacking them with a rolled up magazine etc.

I got the freebie from Harbor Freight too. Only problem is there is a protective grid in front of the zappy wires. So you have to make sure the bug gets past the grid or they will not get juiced.

OTOH, that saves you from getting zapped by an irate wife.

I zap flies with mine all the time. Way easier than traditional fly swatter

We used to have one like that. ("Used to?"... <goes out to the garage and looks...> Still do.) Had it set up ±30' from the deck. Never seemed to do much good. One day I read they don't attract mosquitoes at all. The ones you find in there are there by accident. As for the other bugs? They attract more than they kill.

Stopped using it. Noticed no difference. (And, yeah, it was working. Trust me: It was definitely working.)

This article is typical of what I've read about bug zappers: Do bug zappers really help fight mosquitoes?

YMMV, I guess.

All I know is, when mosquitos are bothering me and I turn the zapper on, they no longer bother me. IDK. Maybe the mosquitos are not so bright around here? That is until they get zapped...

The only time they seem to work for me is if there's no breeze, which isn't often.

Picked on up at harbor freight for the flies and man does it work well. I was killing all manner of things with it this summer. Spent $3 on it there.

Ya, zap those suckers all the time. Moths are my main enemy. I fry them up so good they explode into bits. They work on large house flies but require more fry time to reach the explosion phase.
