To be more realistic about it, the voting age isn't changing, nor will any form of knowledge test or taxpaying status be implemented.

The root of the problem is education. Civics isn't really taught, and when it is there is a lefty propaganda tilt. But neither are personal finance or home economics. It is rare for a young adult to have any inkling of how money works, how government impacts their finances, or how to approach basic economic efficiency in their home.

A secondary problem is people have no clue how much they are paying in taxes. And no clue about future taxes (or inflation) due to public debt.

A third problem is people have no understanding that there is no such thing as government money.

Implementing solid education in civics and finance needs to be brought back. Every paycheck should be the gross amount, and then indicate taxes due which the worker must manually pay. Thus people will feel the pain of paying taxes.

If a citizen is in the military they must have the ability to vote.

Yeah... you're right. Realistically, it's not going to happen.
It's not easy to change the Constitution.
Still, I'd be in favor of repealing the 26th amendment, returning the voting age to 21.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Along with the 19th, and 21st.

And the 16th and 17th.

Great talking point, but those 17 and 18 year olds can't buy a beer and in some states, buy any tobacco products.

This is my entire contention about military service. America needs to define age of majority, period.

I’ve been advocating this for years. You’d see a screeching U-turn in the direction this country seems to be taking.
