Country star Roy Clark, the legendary singer and guitar player who headlined the cornpone TV show "Hee Haw" for nearly a quarter century has died. He was 85.
A rep for the singer told Fox News Clark died on Thursday at his Tulsa, Okla., home due to complications from pneumonia.
Clark played the guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin, harmonica and other instruments. His skills brought him gigs as a guest performer with many top orchestras, including the Boston Pops. In 1976 he headlined a tour of the Soviet Union, breaking boundaries that were usually closed to Americans.

My thoughts also.
Sad to see all those talented performers cashing in their chips! My latest "star" is Don Williams. He died last year I think.

he definitely had talent, and seemed like a nice guy as well,
He was a pilot also. At one time he had some pretty nice airplanes.

A dear friend who used to be in the music business in Lubbock, Tx shared this story with me. The pianist, Van Claiborne, was supposed to play a concert there, but the piano that had been shipped to Lubbock didn’t suit him so he refused to play. A young fellow got his guitar and sat on the edge of the stage singing and playing while the audience was spellbound by his talent. That young man was Roy Clark.

Talented guy. As a kid I always enjoyed watching him and Buck Owens on Hee-Haw.

I saw him once many years ago at the WV State Fair. He put on a great show.

He was always one of my favorites He always seemed to have such a great demeanor.
One of the great memories I have of growing up was sitting in my grandparents basement in Southern Ohio on Saturday night and while we all watched Hee Haw.
Roy Clark and Buck Owens. It was amazing how different the pitches of their voices were but they went together pretty well.

Great guitarist. He and Glenn Campbell had a running dual as to who was best.

R.I.P. Mr. Clark. He was perhaps my first guitar hero. Even as a kid, a non player at the time, his guitar playing on Hee Haw blew me away. He and Buck Owens, amazing stuff.

Extremely hard past few months for the Clark family. His grandson (Eli Clark) had a well publicized, long and hard battle with brain cancer and passed within the last few months.

In addition to being a great musician, Ill. Bro. Clark was a great Ambassador for Freemasonry in Virginia. He was born in Meherrin, VA.

My FIL lived in Keysville VA, very close to Meherrin. He was also a pilot. I met Roy several time and found him to be a genuinely nice guy.
85 Is a pretty decent run for a fat redneck.
RIP Roy Clark
