Two Sundays ago I had an all-day migraine. Nothing seemed to help. At the end of the night I went on youtube and searched for "sounds for migraines" and this came up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ns-5pSf33E8

I was skeptical but desperate. Strangely, I found it to work. I listened for 10 minutes and it was both relaxing and the pain went away so I took off the headphones and the headache came back. I ran it though twice again and I didn't feel the pain any longer. This one is supposed to have binaural beats and isochronic tones.

I was impressed so I looked up binaural beats and got a bunch of garbage about DNA healing and astral projections so I was about to dump the idea altogether but this guy just does binaural beats for sleeping without the silly water sounds, birds and new age music. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9TD9SM-5XSk

I tried it and I can fall asleep while listening and I seem to actually stay asleep all night. I have some wild dreams that I can remember the next day though.

I guess I need some better earbuds that actually fit in my ear and don't hurt to lay on (I'm a left-side sleeper). Suggestions?

Hadn't heard of it before but glad you posted.

As far as earbuds go, I've had the best luck with el cheapo buds. Like $5.00 cheap. I just make sure the fit sideways, not straight in, and that seems to take pressure off. I'm also a side sleeper.

I've tried some cheaper sets and found them to sound tinny and harsh. No low frequency response. What is your experience in that regard?

Can you show me an example of the ones that fit sideways versus those that go straight in.

There was a thread started by Black (I think) not too long ago about music to sleep to. Several members mentioned using binaural beats to sleep with great success. Myself included.

Improper English on my part. I tend to use earbuds and earphones interchangeably and shouldn't.

I'll try to find some pics later this evening but there are several different devices.

a) Those that have the rubber pieces that go straight in and make a seal. These tend to be longer by design.

b) Those that are flatter and either have no covering or have a foam cover. These are more disc shaped and flatter. They do not actually seal in your ear canal.

c) ones that are kind of a combination of the two.

I try to find ones that I can turn sideways in my ear so that the speaker as such or rubber piece sits next to my canal and the rest is not sticking strait out of my ear. Hard to explain.

As far as being too tinny goes, good rubber or foam pieces tends to fix this for me.

I can probably find perfect ones for lots of money but can't justify it. If you go to Shure's website you can see examples of A and C above. Just don't die of sticker shock.

There's an iPhone/Android app called Relax Melodies that has binaural beats and isochronic tones. I use it sometimes for the brown (or Brownian) noise, which is a lot lower pitched than white noise.

I've been using various white noise, binaural beats, and more from a site called mynoise.net. They're best with headphones, of course. Several seem to be quite good for focus and de-stressing at work.

I listened to this, sounds awesome. I forwarded it to my cousin, who suffers from migraines. I hope it works for her.

Thanks.

Excellent. Thank you!

Another concern is that I don't want the sound to be heard by my wife in case it keeps her up.

That's interesting. I get migraines very rarely now that I've cut onions out of my diet. I'll have to check into getting my magnesium level checked.

I would look at eating foods rich in magnesium.

https://draxe.com/magnesium-de...h-foods-must-eating/

I take 250 Mg Extended Release Magnesium every day for my heart.

Also you are probably under stress from Markie's problems. Hope he is doing better and the doctors find out the problem.
