Old news. That's been the rumor for a long time.

https://www.esquire.com/entert...ris-elba-james-bond/

The rumor that Elba is in line to play James Bond has endured for years. In 2014, in one of the thousands of emails made public when Sony Pictures was hacked, then-studio cochair Amy Pascal told a colleague, "Idris should be the next Bond."

Idris Elba makes damn near anything better. I think he would be a fantastic Bond. However I think he would have made a better Doctor Who.

He looks like a good bond type. As long as he continues the fine tradition of all races of sexy, sophisticated and deadly women.

Last I read, Craig was still going to make a couple more movies, but the studio that owns Bond is underwater financially, so they're indefinitely on-hold. all this "next" shit is still pure conjecture IF there ever is another Bond under the current studio.

Maybe it is for some politically correctness/SJW points, but the dude can act and actually wouldn't be a bad choice. A lot of times it seems like they do just go for someone who checks as many boxes, except the talent one. Elba ain't no slouch in the acting department.

Elba is a great actor, but way too old.
He’s the same age as Daniel Craig.

Tom Hardy would be a much better choice.

I will be honest I had no idea who you guys were talking about, so of course I had to googlefu the name.

Hmm. I do know this actor but did not his name, I watched him in the series Luther on Netflix.

Which I really enjoyed, but I do not remember him in the Wire. Which means I will have to re-watch that series.

He is a great actor and I will say more Mature (since he is about my age) than it seems like the type Hollywood is going for (age wise)

Fantastic actor....a bit old for the role...but I am sure he'd be superb in it.

Still, I don't think I would go see the movie.
First it was M as a woman and Q as a metrosexual young man, now it's James as a black man. It's just no longer the James Bond universe. It's not a Bond movie anymore...it's just another typical lefty SJW film with a character who happens to be named Bond.

Like the guy as an actor but no way James Bond. James Bond is white. Like trying to reboot Shaft series with Gerard Butler as John Shaft.

Idris Elba was solid in The Dark Tower, that would probably be a good representation of whether he would be good at James Bond.

I’d rather see Chiwetel Ejiofor as Bond. If you saw him in Serenity, that was basically a warm-up for the part.

Why does Bond have to be white? The character is a spy. I don't think there is anything about that character that requires a particular race.

If you can handle the shift back and forth from Sean Connery and Roger Moore, and then Dalton and Pierce Brosnan, followed by moving on to Daniel Craig. Switching from a white male to a black male isn't a problem.
