I spent it alone. Turns out Mrs DF had to be out of town on a family matter and my only son at home spent the day with his girlie. I didn't feel like driving 75 miles to see my dad whom I had just seen the day before. Sooooo.....I was alone. It was okay though since I'm a cat personality. I like others around me but am fine sleeping on the couch alone all day.

I went to church in the AM. Had a little lunch and puttered around in the shop. It was therapeutic puttering. No pressure. No frustrating repairs. Got bored around 5:00 and decided to go shooting out in the West desert. I took one of the ARs and some targets I had been accumulating. Hadn't been shooting in months.

It takes about 40 mins to get to my favorite spot out there. By then the sun had set up against the East face of the West mountains so I was in the cool shade with a stunning view of the valley. I burned through a few hundred rounds using my truck window as a brass catcher. It was nice. Very relaxing. One benefit of going late in the day like that is if anyone else had the same idea, they were done and gone by then. They were nice enough to leave me a few hundred pieces of .556 and 7.62x51 brass for me to scrounge. I left the pistol brass.

Came home. Grilled a steak. Watched Sicario again. Normally I'd pass father's day with my family. That's how I like it. But this time I was alone.....and it was fine.

I spent it alone, too.

Wife is home with her mother who just had surgery.

I slept in. Walked the dogs. Had a small lunch and played video games for a couple of hours. Applied at a couple of jobs online while the TV was on as background noise. Seasoned a few ribeye steaks, fed the dogs, walked the dogs, came home and cooked the steaks and ate. Then I exercised.

Looked at more jobs then went to bed.

Today I will look for more jobs, apply at those I feel I'm qualified for. But first I must go bike riding. Haven't rode in a week.

I'd take a bunch of days like that, if I had the option.

I got to spend part of mine with my daughter at her house. I had to buy and replace a window air conditioner for her. Cool

Went to dinner Saturday night with my wife and Mom.

Daughter out of town, my Dad passed in 87, so...

Got on my moto, went to hang with a friend, smoked a cigar there.

Came home and puttered around fixing things, smoked another cigar.

All's well. Smile

worked 14 hours, out of town

at least, all of my kids called me, so I didn't have to write any of them out of the will

get back home tonight - celebrate tomorrow, with a walk on the beach

Happy Fathers Day to all....

I slept in and then went to the range, which I had all to myself.
A good day.

It rained in the Yoop so I stayed in with the cat. My kid called from NOLA and wished me Happy Fathers Day. So it was ok. Been better if I could have logged some miles on my new BMW S 1000 XR.

Thanks! It really was a great day which surprises me. Had anyone asked I think I would have said I preferred to be with my fam. It really was enjoyable....like that vacation to SFO. Great place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there. Big Grin

... same, alone.

Yard work, followed by late brunch at the Irish pub, then more yard work, an Ashton VSG, read a few chapters and watched both True Grit movies.

A good day in all.

I thought about my Father who passed in 1998. Did some work on the Ranch, grilled a few burgers and watched "Downton Abbey" and a few other BBC shows.

Not the same with the Old Man gone.

+1, agreed. Would always talk about cricket, his passion.
Both mum and dad passed last year; there's a lot of 'firsts' this year.

On a slightly different note - tried Doctor Blake Mysteries; or Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries?

I spent most of the day alone, I ate breakfast out ( Mass was on Sat. ) did yard work and visited with friends that brew their own beer. Dinner was nothing special but the kids called as did my brother, it was nice to hear from them.

Nice day here, shot a USPSA match and then stopped for a Pigs Ass Porter. We call it ass in a glass.

Saturday was prep for the Sunday match by shooting a Defensive Pistol match. My daughter surprised me with a nice gift card to Sportsmans. Buy some more bullets she says.. My bride was content to have the day without me putzin in the man cave.

Happy Papa's Day, DF ! Smile

Change is the only constant.

Glad you were okay with something different and found good ways to enjoy the day.

Wish I coulda gone shooting with you.

Spent the day busy, but we did manage to sleep in a bit as we were both exhausted from the week.

Got several projects done and made an addictive smoked rainbow trout dip been working on some, then grilled a big batch of wings Big Grin

(maybe finally have a recipe worthy of Mr. Monkey ? Wink )

Wishing you a great father's day again for next year ! ! !

I'm not a father but spent the day with family. Here's the weird part: my cousin has 3 kids and a stay at home wife. He's the one clearing the table, doing the dishes while his kids played with me in the yard. Normally I'd offer to help but I never see his wife do anything so I figured I'd give her the opportunity, being father's day and all. Spoiler alert: she never did. Shame that I spent more time with his kids on Father's day than he did.

I spent Father's Day playing golf, just as my Dad and I used to do most Saturdays until he got dementia and couldn't play any more. It's been a little over three months since he passed away, and it felt a little strange as thoughts of our golf outings crept up here and there over the first few holes. Golf was probably the thing we did together the most.
