by Callum Davis 17 MARCH 2017 • 10:37AM American golfer Cody Gribble demonstrated remarkable bravery on Thursday by grabbing an alligator by its tail to usher it off an Orlando golf course.
Gribble, 26, was taking part in the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill when the stray alligator caught his attention mid-round.
The reptile was lounging in the Orlando sun before the Texas-born golfer casually approached the creature it in order to shoo away the live hazard.

Just by the way he did that, I have to think he's dealt with gators before.
Here in Altamonte Springs (we're just across the city line from Orlando), we had a nice little par 3, nine hole course, near where I live. Mrs. V-Tail and I really liked it, unfortunately it's closed now.
One summer there was a young alligator, maybe foot and a half or two feet long, that lived in a little pond near the first tee. Nobody tried to retrieve lost balls there.
There were also quite a few snakes in the rough areas. I never saw anything other than harmless black snakes, but I would not have been surprised to find a rattler.
Orlando Executive Airport, the General Aviation airport right in the middle of downtown, was home to a very large alligator. It lived in the grassy areas around the taxiways and would occasionally sprawl out on the concrete, absorbing the heat. Animal Services captured it and relocated it. Once, I was given take-off clearance with the caution that a large turtle had been observed near the runway. I saw it and avoided it on my take-off roll, and it was indeed very large. I would guess a hundred pounds or more.
Florida wildlife is interesting!

It's Florida, if you ride a motorcycle you are going to get rained on, if you golf you are going to run into gators.
It wasn't even a big one. You should see the ones on the golf course at NAS Jacksonville.

I am from the land of gators...though now I live in NC....
Gators can run about 35 mph....for short times...usually jsut enough to catch you....
They have more teeth than you or me added together..
And can hold their breath much longer than me...

There's a reason gators have been here for several million years...because they WORK. I've only been around them a few times but once saw one sprint after and catch a Canadian goose. It moved MUCHO faster than I can.

What club for 'gator?
Is it size dependent? You use a wedge for small ones and a three iron for big ones?
Goes carbon fiber work better? Larger club face? Titanium shafts?
And what rule applies when your ball comes to rest next to a 'gator? Do you get 47 club lengths and a drop?
We need to get the PGA and US Golfing Association on this!
