What is NBC doing? The House was officially called to be in Republican control two days ago I think by Decision Desk HQ.

No big deal, I just find it interesting how different outlets decide to call races. I legitimately thought it was official official. Like no question. But apparently not?

I don't think it's "official" until the requisite number of votes are actually counted. Up to that point, it's still technically a projection. The word "official" tends to be over-used.

That said, even the AP has the GOP at 217.

(The Associated Press is probably the closest to an official call, as they don't report projections at all, at least that's what they say. That's why they always lag behind others.)

They are still counting in Pa for the governor’s spot even though the winner was already announced.

Trump and the Republican House today sure acted like they won the majority.

Governor? I'm sure you mean Senator.

PA is still counting provisional and mail-in ballots in the Senate race. David McCormick has been holding the lead for days but it is a close race.
With 99% of the vote counted, 48.9% of the vote is for Dave McCormick and 48.5% is for Bob Casey. If the percentages remain the same, an automatic recount occurs. I am hopeful for McCormick.

We will elect a Governor in two years.

Let me help you out. Which way did you come in?

Nothing official about Decision Desk, just another prognosticator.

For the House, Fox is following AP and AP has the GOP @ 217 currently.

Practically speaking, looking at the numbers in the races yet to be called, it's obvious the GOP will get over the hurdle. The real question is not whether, but by how much. It'd be nice to give the Speaker more wiggle room, especially with some reps getting nods for Cabinet posts.

^^ NOTHING 'official' about the AP either! While Decision Desk HQ has been accurate on every call, and is entirely unbiased, the same can't be said for the AP, which is often just another 'protagonist' in the media, serving as an advocate/champion of the Left whenever they can get away with it!

Republicans picked up one more seat today and sit at 217, just one seat short of House majority with eleven seats still not called. President Trump said this morning that he thought they would have “a 4 or 5 seat” majority.

I agree. AP, FoxNews, and NBC are not superior to Decision Desk, a source I have referred to for years with the best, up to date count on elections.

The Republicans have won the house. Get used to it.

You need to catch up! Currently, the Republicans have a 219 to 211 seat MAJORITY...Since Yesterday! They've actually had the 218 seat Majority since Monday PM on Veterans Day! Wink

There are four remaining House races yet to be called; 3 districts in California - CA 21 & CA 9 where the Democrats lead, and CA 13 where the Republican leads, as well one in Alaska (AK At-Large), where the Republican also leads.

Four is all I can see remaining, but shouldn’t there be five?

Yes, there's 5.

You're missing CA 45, which still hasn't been called either. It's a tiny district near Los Angeles, so you can't hardly see it on the DDHQ national district map.

The Rs lead there currently too, though by a very slim margin of 50.1% to 49.9% (a difference of ~350 votes), with ~20k or so additional votes still left to certify.

So when it all shakes out, the Rs will be holding either 221 or 222 seats... The "4 or 5 seat majority" Trump mentioned today.

Guys - My apology for starting this thread and creating any negative discussion. I knew by reading that all reflected the Republican Party would win the house but at the time I started this thread I thought the final seat needed was still pending.

Did not intend to create conflict or animosity among forum friends.

I'll hand it to NBC to be right on top of it as usual. I can only imagine the tears involved in developing and editing that story.

Mark, no apology needed, my friend. You didn't do anything wrong. I like DDHQ, but seriously, they are not any more official than any other outlets. None of these are official. One outlet calling races earlier than another doesn't make it more valid. Heck, DDHQ still hasn't called the PA senate race for the GOP, when the others have. Does that make DDHQ less valid now? See my point?
