And cynically, the timing could be taken as an attempt to deflect from the upcoming anniversary of the withdrawal from Afghanistan. Remember Joe didn’t want to necessarily take out Bin Ladin, but I’m sure that never crossed the minds of the White House brain trust. Plus waiting until the fall and midterms might not have been workable. Bill Gullette

Excerpt from the posted article: Planning for the operation began six months ago, but intensified in the last two months, the official said. ================= Given how President Biden's administration planned the surrender of Afghanistan timed against the 20th anniversary of the September 11 attacks as a P.R. stunt, color me cynical, but it looks to me like the Intel community had a bead on Ayman al-Zawahiri for quite a while and while they took time to plan the strike, the Biden administration gamed-out when they would get the best P.R. bump in ratings after announcing it. I'm mildly surprised the Biden administration didn't wait until either the anniversary date of when the last U.S. boots left the soil, or the upcoming September 11 anniversary. I'm guessing that somebody in the Intel community pointed out that if the administration waited much longer then he might slip away, at which time they figured a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush and ordered the strike before they lost all P.R. political value. What a sorry-assed way to conduct military operations and foreign affairs.

I remember rumors in the wake of OBL getting schwacked that Zippy/Val Jarrett had said no to getting him. It was pulling Zippy off the golf corse and a cabinet member saying pull the trigger or the press will get a tip that A) we know where he is B) you will not let us get him C) OBL will be a ghost and you will not survive a 2012 primary. That is why in the official war room pic of that night Zero is not at the big boy table, but instead by the trash bag in his golf clothes. While I'm glad another OG AQ asshole is dead, I just know there is no one in DC that deserves any credit for it. I'm good the dead al queda but like others, I'm surprise the current administration gives a fuck about anything worthwhile. "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Or most people in this country anymore. I'm sorry to say that most people just don't care about this and many of them don't even know who the asshole was. The left is happily welcoming muslim terrorists into this country through our open border and we're supposed to believe that they give two shits about killing one halfway around the world? If this was expected to be a ratings bump pre-midterms, it'll fail. ________________________________________________________ "Great danger lies in the notion that we can reason with evil." Touched on by another poster, we pulled out- sure. It a ground team was in country to verify target and hit. What would of happened to that ground team if the attack failed and they were identified? This administration would certainly have left them to perish. Risking brave men and women for what amounts to a PR stunt. My belief- much like the catch and release courts that result in police and civilian deaths here in the states- we know where all the bad guys are, probably what time and where they get coffee- it is simply no one in high administration wants to authorize pulling the trigger.

A good article with graphic depictions of the excellent event: “It was 6.18am on Sunday and the sun was still rising over the Afghan capital of Kabul when an American MQ-9 Reaper drone - circling up to 50,000ft overhead - fired two R9X 'Ninja' Hellfire missiles at a house in the city's upmarket district of Sherpur. Ayman al-Zawahiri, Osama bin Laden's former deputy and leader of the Al Qaeda terror group since his master's death 11 years before, had just completed his morning prayer - the second of the day - and was watching the dawn from his rooftop balcony in keeping with a well-worn routine. Moments later, the 71-year-old was no more - pulverised into oblivion by the R9X's 100lbs reinforced-metal warhead and six katana-like blades that would have silently popped out of the fuselage moments before impact. …” DailyMail article: https://mol.im/a/11071327 Serious about crackers

An article about the missle that got ‘im: “Al Qaeda's leader Ayman al-Zawahiri became the latest victim of the feared Hellfire Ninja R9X missile that uses pop-out swords rather than an explosive to take down high profile targets, according to military experts. …… The R9X carries 45kg of reinforced metal in its tip with six extendable blades designed to shred the target upon impact without triggering a blast that could prove deadly to those nearby…” DailyMail article: https://mol.im/a/11071175 Serious about crackers

Do some of you really think Biden is lying about this? I am no fan of Biden, but that is crackpot stuff. I had no idea there was a missile like this. Kind of cool it is that accurate and deadly. The fish is mute, expressionless. The fish doesn't think because the fish knows everything.
