lbjMy soon to be 2017 Ford Escape *Update: Livernois tune installed page 13*
Things are moving fast, it's in transit to the dealer.
I am going to have this a few days.

Jimbo54Taking possession of a brand new vehicle is one of the coolest experiences out there.
Enjoy lbj.

lbjYes, it is super nice to have a new car, regardless what it is.
I would say though, that my first new car experience and the feelings that entailed have not been equaled since. Close, but not the same.
I had thought maybe 5K miles to break it in, but given my current health issues, 1200 miles for break in, then the lower temp thermostat and the tune.
Waiting any longer given my personal circumstance would be folly I suppose.

Aquabirdthat is fast.
My son ordered a loaded Ford Edge and it was to be built today...oh fridays and mondays, the worst days to get a car built on, and his dealer told him maybe a week. The edge is made in Canada though, not Detroit...which is pretty darn close to Canada.
Enjoy it lbj.

lbjMine was built on May 6th, a Saturday.
When I was 16 in 1971, I ended up with my parents' hand me down 1967 Buick Electra.
When my mom got it new, there was always a rattle in the driver door.
When I got the vehicle, I took the door panel off and found half of a half pint of Early Times.
Maybe it was Ezra Brooks.
In any case, I drank it.
The rattle never came back, in the car anyway.

The 1.6L is standard, so I paid extra to get the 2.0L.
They offer 19s as well and I suppose I could do 17s.
No matter what diameter wheel Ford offers, the rolling circumference stays the same based on the tire sizes they offer.
Therefore, the ride height remains the same no matter the diameter.
I think it should roll smooth with 235/50/18s.
There is decent sidewall present.
Unless my eyes deceive, that option list as they show it lists ".18" SPARKLE SLVR PTD ALUM WH" wheels, not 18". So, less than a quarter inch.....

I thought it was the law to display two plates.
At least it was free.
In Pennsylvania we only have rear license plates, no fronts. It varies by state, drive over to NJ and they all have front/rear.
You'd think that would be something that would have been standardized years ago by the Feds.

That's awesome, I'm glad it is moving so fast. My Mustang sat on the ramp in Flat Rock for two weeks before getting shipped.

911BossCongrats! Having recently picked up a new Mustang GT Convertible, I agree that few things rival the feel of a new car.
I've yet to take the leap of ordering the exact vehicle I want, always seem to get (and pay for) something I really wasn't looking for or get the equipment I wanted but not my color preference.
Maybe next time I can go top shelf and get one made to order.
Enjoy the ride!

lbjIn thinking back, I ordered my 1972 BMW 2002, the 84 Cherokee, the 95 Grand Cherokee LTD, and now the Escape.

lbjI went down to the dealer today to figure the final pricing.
It came with some additional rebate I did not know about.
The sticker: 36,030
The final: 31,030.
I am happy with that, very happy.
It's still sitting in Kentucky so it may be a while. It may take a week.

They say the new engines don't need to be broken in. 1200 miles should be plenty sufficient.
When I do engine startups on brand new yachts. WIth diesels from 400hp-2600hp each, the first time they're run anywhere the mechanic from the local CAT, MTU, MAN etc. dealer jumps on with his laptop and you put the motors through their paces, about 5 minutes for every 200 rpms, including WOT for 5 minutes. They don't seem to have an issue running them wide open for 10 minutes (with less than 10 hours on the motor) on diesels that cost up to $500,000 each.

lbjI still want a limited break in, it's in my nature.

lbjI am getting out of an X5 Sport, so things will feel different.
My youngest daughter really likes her 2015 with 20K miles on it.
In fact, she just stopped by to use our Dyson handheld and Windex to clean it up a bit.
I am feeling really good on the pricing of the Escape.
I mean, it's tricked out.
I added all options except for the 19in wheels and the adaptive cruise control.
The price of 31,030 before taxes is really good IMO.
Apparently, if anyone buys an Escape Titanium this month, you qualify for the 5K discount.

JonDaddy82Congrats on your purchase! This being the SigForum and you being in Colorado and wanting a sporty small SUV, I'm surprised no one even remotely mentioned one of these?

lbjI didn't want one. They are the quickest in class though.
Once I get my tune with 55Hp added, I should at least be equal 0-60, maybe better. I am hoping to be in the 6.3-6.5 second range.
If I wasn't sick and had lots of time left, I would have gotten another X5 or similar.
I went for the auto lift gate, I really need that given my situation.
I went to the bank today and have the cashiers check made out and ready to go.

AquabirdNo, the Fords have semi synthetic oil in them, so break in takes considerably longer than before they used it. I would guess more like between 3500 and 7500 miles.
I know my F250 did not loosen up until it had over 7500 miles on it.
