I was out chasing Fall color and stopped to turn around at an intersection. There was a small arrow pointing to a monument 1/2 mile up the road, mind you these are dirt roads about 10 miles from pavement. I took the drive and was amazed at what I read, talk about different times!

Maurice Graham was quite a guy, they should make a movie of his exploits. Here is a link to a good article: https://www.historynet.com/mystery-missing-pilot/

View across from the monument, I picked a good day!

Fascinating.

Those kinds of monuments give me a kind of spatial discontinuity.

I can understand why it's fitting for the monument to be there but, at the same time, I think it should be in a more prominent location. Dedication and integrity lived in a place where no one can see you.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." If it was closer to the populace, the damn rubes would just fucking burn it all down.

I like it where it is… Thank you for sharing.

Just to be clear, I was not advocating for it to be moved to a different location and my feelings were expressed exclusive of any current trends.
