Our chiweenie Molly crossed the rainbow bridge tonight. She was feeling ok and acting normal until yesterday afternoon. It got worse, and tonight we took her to the emergency vet. The vet quickly determined that she had stomach cancer and that it had spread to her abdomen. There was nothing left to do.

Molly was a rescue, and we loved her very much. She was especially close to my wife, and she is the one who took her to her final vet visit. My heart is breaking for Molly and my wife and kids.

Dogs are the biggest joy in my life, outside of family. But they are part of our family. This hurts so much.

UPDATE: Our regular vet just called my wife and was bawling over the phone. I’ve never experienced that before. What a comfort that not only does she care about our pups, but that Molly must have made some kind of impact on her, considering this is such a part of their job.

Maestro, so sorry that your friend went ahead of you.. If it’s any comfort, I’m sure my dogs will be happy to have a new friend to keep them company until I go home too.

I’m sorry to hear of your loss. We’ve lost a number of dogs, over nearly 50 years of marriage, that are fine one day and gone a day or two later. A blessing I guess.

I am so sorry for your loss. They are a special gift from God, and when they leave us there is a big empty place.

Prayers for your family's healing.

Sorry to hear. I still on occasion feel the loss of my cocoa even though several years have past. Wrenching it is to lose an unconditional love.
