Samsung Tablet battery bad?
The wife's Samsung Galaxy Tab2 9.7 battery seems to be acting up. I took it off charge at 100% last night, it's at 81% this a.m. Looks like replacing the battery is simple enough, $55 seems reasonable, battery and a couple tools.

I wonder if the battery is definitely the problem. She had an aftermarket cover that I wasn't convinced put the tab "to sleep" when closed. I put the better, somewhat awkward Samsung cover on, the tab seemed to hold charge better for a while. Now back to losing charge just sitting there.

The battery had fully discharged at least a couple times, I guess that's real bad for these batteries. There don't seem to be any programs running in the background, best I can tell. Using the tab's diagnostics to assume that.

Bad battery, "sleep" function fouled up, third party diagnostic tool to pinpoint problem?

Try booting it into recovery mode and clearing out all the Cache. Then reboot it. That will breath new life into most devices. If that doesn't work, then check to see what the last app was that you downloaded and remove it.

A factory wipe may also help. As a last resort, change the battery.

I was able to find boot/recovery info specific to our device. I'll watch it a day or two to see how the battery holds up. Here's hoping, thanks.

After the most recent software update, the battery life on my Tab S2 Pro 9.7 has been awful as well. As in, loses 20-30% overnight, with no applications running (???).

I've been (casually) searching for a solution for a few weeks.

Sorry, no help...just adding my experience to let you know you're not alone!

Yes, not no help! Smile Very good to know. Can you estimate how long since your last software update?

FWIW My wife's S2 9.7 has the problem, my S2 8.0 works fine. Being smaller, it has always had better battery life so there's that. I'll check to see which Android versions they're both running, maybe something of use to know.

Just double checked...mine is the same model as your wife's (Tab S2 9.7).

If I recall correctly, the software update was about a month ago. Battery life was pretty great prior to that (charged once a week), and now I have to charge it every 3 days.

I'll report back if I find a solution.

I tried rockchalk06's suggestion yesterday. Went to bed with the tab at 81%, got up this a.m., 81%. Looking good, I'll monitor things a couple more days expecting no change.

Here's master reset procedure specific to the Tab S2 9.7 I used. Be prepared to backup and restore!

Day two after hard reset, 92% at bedtime, 91% on rising. Thanks, rockchalk06, I think you nailed it. Smile
