New York Gov. Kathy Hochul is ditching the MTA congestion pricing plan — with insiders saying she’s worried that it’s “not the right time” as New Yorkers face a cost-of-living crisis.

Hochul will announce plans to indefinitely delay the toll’s June 30 start date on Wednesday, a source close to the governor’s office told The Post.

“The governor is concerned about the economic recovery in Manhattan and the cost of living,” the source said. “New Yorkers are struggling. It’s not the right time to do it.”

Translation:
Now is not the time to make permanent the destruction of New York, instituted by my bizarre Covid lock-down, shut down policies.
Enough people have already permanently moved out of New York.
Besides, There's an election coming...

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

The NY taxi drivers must have had the best lobbyists / bribing schemes for the scrapped plan.

The Teamsters must be viewed as voting Demonrat no matter what the elected officials do. They really need to wise up and vote Republican a few cycles to get their influence back.

I was with a group that had a site visit on Long Island and then another in Newark some years ago. Traffic was so bad getting to and, I’m assuming, through Manhattan that we had to divert north through the Bronx and take the GW bridge to Jersey. I was a passenger and didn’t pay attention to the tolls at the time but my parents did the same thing a year or two later and Dad told me earlier today when we talked about this that they paid about $30 in tolls then because there were so many bridges and toll roads. Add a few of these together if Gov. H hadn’t suspended this and some New Yorkers would be screaming and casting protest votes against their Democrat oppressors.

Thank goodness my 99 year old grandmother passed away about 10 years ago. I remember it being expensive driving up there back then. This is ridiculous…

I read an article in the WSJ this am where some of the big financial movers and shakers ( think Blackrock etc.) are trying to open a trading exchange in Texas as things are too difficult to manage on Wall Street. The fact that Texas is home to more Fortune 500 companies than any other state starts to make sense…
