Bite the bullet and go with the Vitamix. You'll end up spending that much anyway buying multiple units replacing ones you burn through. Trust me.

‘‘Laws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.’’

— Thomas Jefferson's "Commonplace Book," 1774-1776, quoting from On Crimes and Punishment, by criminologist Cesare Beccaria, 1764

Vitamix all the way. They are tanks and can handle anything. Great guarantee as well.

How about a $30 Hamilton Beach (who've been making blenders forever)? Why is it necessary to pay $200 to do a job something that's $30 will do?

There are three possibilities that will come out of buying the $30 blender.

1). You use it on a regular basis, it works, it does the job, you're done, and you've saved $170

2). You figure out that even though you have it, you don't really use it very much, and it sits in a cabinet. You performed a $30 experiment, you got the information you needed, and you can move on with your life.

3). You use the $30 blender, but in the end, it really does't cut (or in this case blend) the mustard. You really did need the $200 blender, so you go out an buy it. You performed a $30 experiment, you got the information you needed. Yes, you spent $30 more than necessary. You have a cheap blender you can use or give away as appropriate.

Guys

You did look at when the OP posted, right? I suspect he already bought a birthday present for his wife...

Another Vitamix user here. I could not believe how well it mixes. We tried the nutri-bullet, the Ninja and eventually went with the Vitamix. It makes fantastic smoothies.

There really is a difference.
