I'm sick and tired of leaking alkaline batteries and am thinking of getting rechargeable ones.

Costco has an Energizer brand package that seems like a good price, $24.99 right now.

These are nickel metal hydride batteries, I assume those are good ones.

The only weird thing is, it looks as if you have to put the AA's and AAA's into a C or D shell thing to charge them?

I've done a google search, can't seem to find myself an answer about the charging, other brands and units the batteries just seem to fit right into their same size charging slots.

I'm thinking this may be a Costco exclusive package, it's item # 1236444, I can't find it on Energizers website.

I think I've seen previous posts recommending Eneloops, any words on the Energizer brand?

Here's all I could find on the internet LINK

Thanks.

I was able to find lithium ion batteries that charge with any usb cable. NiMh is still good, stay away from NiCad.

Arc.

About 30 bucks. Love it.

It is a Costco exclusive package. They took the Enloop brand and replaced it with the Energizer brand. Pretty sure they are the same or similar batteries (made in Japan at the same plant) and the kit is basically identical.

That kit is fine to purchase. I checked them out recently. The charger will only accept AA or AAA batteries.

The adapters are so you can use the AA batteries in devices that require C or D batteries, but you don't charge the batteries with the shells on.

I use the following

AA/R6 primary cells zinc chloride or carbon zinc in clocks, remotes, thermometers, scales, etc. Technically they leak internally but they are sealed so they won't ruin anything and are cheaper than zinc manganese/alkaline. 1.5Vf

For rechargables

AA/HR6 Panasonic Eneloop ni-mh for high drain devices and flashlights. 1.2 Vf.
If you choose something else, try and make sure they are made in Japan.

18650 Sanyo/Panasonic/Samsung salvaged from battery packs. 3.6 - 4.2 volts. Nitecore USB charger. Try to find lithium nickel cobalt rather than lithium manganese.

Thank y'all for the advice.

I picked up on at Costco this evening before they closed, price goes back up end of day.

I'll give it a try, and I think I'll shop around for more AA and AAA batteries to go with it. Any advice on brands would be welcome.

Thanks again.

Only Eneloop. The black label eneloop pro has more energy but fewer cycles than the standard eneloop so choose your poison.... I only use eneloop or lithium (primaries or lithium ion rechargeable when they are ok in the particular light.)

At times, Duracell and others have slapped their label on Eneloops but I don't have all the info offhand...

Go with the NiteCore charger. You'll be able to charge any rechargeable battery out there. And if you switch to 18650/RCR 123/ 14500 (AA size)Li-ion style you're still good to go.

Energizer NiMH batteries used to absolutely SUCK. low power, fail often. I bought a bunch & threw them all out eventually. Chargers sucked too, overheated.

Eneloop.
