And the cockatoos HATE it! Wings out SCREAMING hate it! Willow is sulking at the top of her cage. It was all fun and games when I was unboxing it. Then it moved... He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster.

Nothing bird related, but I've been through two of them and roughly $1500. They suck and not in a good way. The concept is great, but why the geeks cannot seem to program them to do the simple routes rather going around in circles for hours rather than just back and forth, avoid this, back and forth, and done, I don't know. Went back to the Dyson once a week. Cheaper, easier, and a MUCH better job done. The Roombas do OK on laminate/hardwood/linoleum with no interference, but if you've got a dog or cat and rugs or carpeting? Nope, it just balls up the hair and leaves it on the carpet. No brushes, just the goofy rubber thing. Dyson and a little effort all the way. The robots ain't ready for prime time. ________________________________________________________ It is long past time for a Convention of States. Wife specifically asked for this one. I have oak hardwoods I want it to clean. I may look at a Dyson for downstairs. There's 4 cockatoos down there... He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster.

We have covered vacuums. The answer for me is Project Farm reviews. I bought LG stick for hardwood. I bought Shark for carpet. ------- Trying to simplify my life...

No, that's not mine. Thankfully, my dog doesn't shit in the house. But if he saw a robot vacuum creeping around he'd rip it apart in short order ----------------------------------------------------------- Any comments made by this poster are my own and do not reflect the views or opinions of my employer.

They don't, until they do... While I've never had one of my dogs purposely shit in the house, I've had a dog shit in the house while sick and unable to control it on three different occasions throughout my life. And I've had dogs vomit inside at least a dozen times. My neighbor ~20ish years ago got one of the early Roombas, right after they first got popular. He wanted it to help keep up with all the loose hair his large Golden Retriever would leave around his apartment. He was really proud of it. One day while he was at work, the dog got sick and had a large volume of diarrhea on the floor. Then along came the helpful Roomba, which proceeded to spread it all over. Went from having to clean one spot to having to clean a huge swath, plus get rid of his new Roomba. I suspect it looked just like your photo, but worse.

My ears are ringing just thinking about that. Cockatiels were loud. I understand Cockatoos take it up logarithmically from there. You could try something to make the Roomba look less threatening, like adding long spider legs and a couple 2" diameter googly eyes. === I would like to apologize to anyone I have *not* offended. Please be patient. I will get to you shortly.

I never thought about getting one, but after seeing that problem with pets I'll never consider it. Good lord ! Lover of the US Constitution Wile E. Coyote School of DIY Disaster

We have had a Roomba for twenty years. Goes off overnight at 2:00 They are not service free. You have to clean them out on a regular basis and replace the rollers etc. from time to time. With 3 Pugs it does a relatively good job. We use it in the living room kitchen area that is hardwood with a low cut area rug. Still have a vacuum that gets used occasionally. ----------------------------------- Get your guns b4 the Dems take them away Sig P-229 Sig P-220 Combat

Oh I know. Current dog has puked a few times, but hasn't pooped or peed in the house since he was a little pup. Our old dog was pretty good about it too, except one time when she was really little. We were both working and she was in the crate all day while we were gone. I came home at lunch to let her out and everything was fine. My wife got off work about an hour before me, and when I got home that night my wife was crying and there was a horrific, overwhelming stench that permeated the whole house. Apparently the dog had had diarrhea in her kennel, then tried to clean it up by eating it. When my wife got home, she immediately noticed the problem and tried to take the dog out, but when she opened up the kennell the dog slipped past her, ran into the living room, and proceeded to vomit up diarrhea all over the place. It was almost cleaned up by the time I got home, and the windows were all open, but it took a few days for the smell to dissipate. We went out to eat that night... ----------------------------------------------------------- Any comments made by this poster are my own and do not reflect the views or opinions of my employer.

I’ve used one regularly in my parrot room, and they do adjust. They are more comfortable with the Roomba than they are with a regular broom and dust pan, but it does take time to adjust. __________________________ "Trust, but verify."

Not vacuum related....My Weener dog was home alone for 16 hours. He had his blanky, water and food. We were at an extended waterpolo meet 80 miles away. When we got home Theodore zoomed to the back door without any usual greeting. Outside he cocked his leg immediately, and pooped simultaneously. Good boy. My wife got new robot after retiring the Roomba because it sucked. (and not in a good way or I may have taken a shine to it) It’s a Rock-something that vacuums first, then empties itself at the charge station. If it needs a charge, it does it. Then comes back out to mop the floor. When needed it heads back to the station to dump and exchange the crappy water and refill. It can tell the difference between the plank flooring and the area rugs while mopping. I had to see it to believe it. I looked one up at Amazon but not knowing the exact model she bought, the ones I saw were about 5 bills. -------- After the game, the King and the pawn go into the same box.

^ Roborock, we have the S7 & it does a good job. Stripes the room vs concentric circles & can be set to 2x the room & it'll criss-cross the stripes on the 2nd pass [good for the mopping]. Ours doesn't have the object detection camera nor the auto fill water tank. It does occasionally completely skips parts of a room. Run it again & it follows the map normally 4 girls, dog & 2 cats. Does a good job managing the hair. We had a couple Neato Botvac before. Good for a vac only option. Auto-empty wasn't an option back then, though. The Enemy's gate is down.

We just retired Rosie the Roomba vac after many years of good service. this one was pre mapping and it just ran all over the house, and into a few areas we didn't want it ending with us closing doors to keep it out of the shower stall. The amount of hair it picked up from our ageing Basset was unreal, three times a week it was always full. Got a new Shark vac/mop with the base that empties the dirt. It mapped the house, I set no go places and it works pretty well. The roomba was loud on the hardwood floors, this one is as well but not as loud. It's amazing the dirt they pick up

The Roborock has 4 levels of vacuum power. I usually run it on 2, which isn't loud enough to be a nuisance or cause the TV to need an increase in volume. On Turbo [4] it's pretty loud & goes through the battery pretty quickly The Enemy's gate is down.
