olfuzzyPresident Trump should schedule rallies in West Virginia, Alaska and Maine to take the message directly to the people. Maybe after seeing the turnouts and the reception he gets, those Senators might see the light.

Balzé HalzéYes indeed. It's time to get out there and sell this idea of repeal and why directly to the people. Kind of like how a cigarette pack in Europe has a picture of a diseased lung on the cover, Trump and the Republicans need to slap a huge turd on Obamacare and really start an all out advertising push about how cancerous this law really is.

mbinkyFrom what I understand if the full repeal passes it will not be effective immediately, but rather take effect in two years or so. So basically it will remain in place so NO ONE will lose anything they have right now. No one will lose anything unless there is no replacement ready by the deadline? Am I reading this wrong?

Yes, they are evaluating the bill as presented - every prediction they have ever made has been spectacularly wrong, but that doesn't stop the media from repeating it like it's gospel (whenever it favors their agenda).

Serious question: what IS the correct number (even with a 10% margin of error)? Where does it come from? How (with what degree of confidence) do we know which one is correct?
(I've never looked into it.)
Whatever the number, and whatever the decision, I definitely believe it's important to know what the actual (or even reasonably close) downstream effects of a repeal would be.

Indeed. We will be paying for Johnson's Great Society socialist programs and his embroiling the US in the Vietnam War for a very long time to come. He was the worst president of my lifetime, including Jimmy Carter and Barack Obama.

Realistically it's a bunch of partisan eggheads who pull them out of their ass. It's all speculation and guesswork.

It's derived from a magic 8 ball. They shake it and it gives them the numbers.
It's amazing how ObamaCare will leave more people uninsured than it ever insured and jack premiums up even more with it's dismantling on top of the damage it did with it's existence. Seems to defy logic to me.
As far as downstream effects..... people will die, millions per day, and blood in the streets, lots of it.

I'm a little surprised they proposed 2 years' sunset. That gives time for the next Congress to sit. McConnell surely is betting big on 2018....

Exactly.
They have Zero incentive to do anything but preserve the "signature legislation" of their last President, it possible, but if that is repealed they will want to work to shape the replacement.
But that's not necessarily a good thing. They don't
want free-market competition, they want to subsidize and protect their client insurance companies
from competition. Many Republicans want the same thing. If they don't protect the insurance companies
from competition, the lobbyist money stops flowing to the politicians.
