Staying downtown overnight on Monday. Are there any problems I should be aware of, ref: protests etc?
I understand there is a mask ordinance in affect, that was expected.
Tks.

Haven't bee there for a few years but the areas a block or more back from River Street were always considered a no go after dark. Lots of derelicts there, even a decade ago.
The local police and hotel staff told me that and visual observation in the daytime confirmed that.
Probably not somewhere I'd go for a vacation or optional trip right now.

Mask ordinance was overridden yesterday by the Ga. governors no mask edict.
No protests or other BS like that here in the last month. Only that were had were peaceful and only lasted a couple of hours. This is not a concern.
However, be very mindful of being out after dark. If I go downtown after dark it is in a group and I am carrying. Seems that Crime is down due to the virus.
Hope y’all have a great visit.

Tks for the responses. We’re good on the protests then and clear on the masks.
I’d also heard about Paula Deens so tks on that too. Any recommendations for decent eats, nothing real fancy, somewhere our golden doodle would be welcomed outside?
Tks.

There is a GREAT pizza place in the historical area by the river:

Vinnie Van GoGo's
317 W Bryan St, Savannah, GA 31401

That place was PRIORITY 1 when I had overnights in Savannah and usually treated the crew to pizza and beer. It looks like with the current on-going COVID nuttery, they are take-out/delivery only. Haven't been there in many years, sadly Frown , so I hope they don't disappoint if you go there.

Vinnie's is great, cash only pizza.
To go or walk up only. Plenty of spaces to sit outside and eat. Area is dog friendly.
Beware that is has been VERY hot here last few weeks. That looks to be the forecast for the next few weeks also. Typical for summer.

the LCB was the bomb,,,,, best I have ever had,

surely that will not be in place with the Rona around

I prefer the City Market area over River Street, though if you've never been, I understand the allure of River Street. Vinnie VanGoGo's is in the City Market area.

The last we were down that way was February of this year, so things may have changed. When we're passing through on our way to FL we always stop at the Shell House, right off one of the I95 exits. It's owned by a local family & we've been stopping there for about ten years. You can sit on a deck over a pond & dump your crawfish & shrimp shells in the pond & watch the snapping turtles eat them.

Nine Line Apparel is just off one the Savannah exits. They sell USA made tactical clothing AND Black Rifle Coffee.Smile
