Ok, not really as simple as all that... but if you had the free time, would you?

https://www.google.com/amp/s/n...ed-with-the-flu/amp/

From the article-
Researchers are turning sick day into pay day for volunteers who will be infected with the influenza virus as part of a study on how our bodies combat the seasonal illness.

As many as 80 people aged 18 to 50 will get paid $3,300 to inhale a nasal spray containing Influenza A, or the common H1N1 strain, which produces mild to moderate symptoms, according to US News & World Report.

They’ll then spend at least a week holed up in a clinic where they’ll be closely monitored with blood samples and nasal and throat swabs to track “initiation, size and duration of various immune system responses and to detect virus shedding,” according to the National Institutes of Health.

Symptoms including fever and muscle aches and weakness will be recorded for a total of two weeks, and volunteers will undergo a 90-day follow-up with more blood and nasal samples.

I will pass. A few years ago I got the flu, confirmed when I went to the doctor. Don't remember which but they told me the exact strand. Saw the doc quick enough to get the meds to help but I was still sick as a dog. 102 fiver. I can't remember having such a fever since I was a kid.

Don't see putting myself through that just for kicks.

Add a bunch of more zeros behind the 3 and I'd still say no. Seriously, we are comfortable in our retirement and are in our 70's so no way would I jump on that.

Cool! I haven't been sick in 20+ years. Wouldn't mind the wads of cash to still not get sick.

...spend at least a week holed up in a clinic... Hell no!

Add a few zeros and a back rub and we might be able to do business.

I'll pass.

The biggest downside for me (and family) would be the week+ stay in the facility, mandatory.

As an aside, I’m shocked nobody has mentioned the Umbrella Corporation or Captain Trips Big Grin

The equivalent of a month's pay in exchange for a few days of discomfort and a week in a clinic watching Netflix and getting occasionally tested?

*shrug* I'd probably do it, if I didn't have anything else going on.
