I've been carrying a first gen DB9 as my ankle gun for 3 years now. It was a tough little thing to get to fire more than three rounds at first but I put in the improvement that the folks on pocket guns and gear gave. After that It will pop off 6 rounds of HST regular like a snapping turtle. The problem with Gen 1 is that it has to be taken apart to clean. Now they have a Gen 2 that has a Slide Stop. Have any of you folks fired the Gen 2. I was looking to replace it with one of the other little guns but I sort of like this thing. I picked up the P290 but it is a really good front pocket gun.
Not gonna lie, I had to Google what a DB9 was. If your looking to replace, have you considered the Glock 43 ? Mine disappears on the ankle and it’s a rock solid platform.

I have a Gen 2 with slide stope. Snappy little fucker. First time at the range using Winchester whitebox 115 grain 9mm I had failure to feeds. My mistake, I took it to the range out of the box. After giving it a good cleaning, it ate everything I fed it. Now it shoots great. fits in the back & front pocket with no problem. I use mine Occasionally for quick runs to the store. Good little piece for when your working in the garage, yard work.

We too had a gen 1 DB9 which has much to commend it: reliable, accurate, and relatively easy to hide. The problem for us was objectionable recoil. Mr. Newton's third law of motion was/is very much proven shooting a 9oz pistol that launches 9 mm ordnance. We had trouble shooting the DB9 well; and our little mate was scared to death of the little monster. We have since parted ways with the DB9 and settled for a .380 ACP as adequate for defense when a real firearm cannot be conveniently hidden. Our little DB380 serves well in this role so far.
The trade offs are well known: small light "convenient to carry" firearms are not very potent; and potent firearms are not small. Our counsel is stay with your DB9 if you can stand it. If not, we recommend a slightly larger 9 (Glock G43 works well) or consider a .380 (DB380, Glock G42, Sig P238).
I had one and it was a great little pistol for me. I heard bad reports but mine was accurate reliable (except for one novice babyhanded shooter who limp wristed) and slipped into a shirt pocket though I carried it front slash pocket. I traded it on an offer I couldnt refuse and I do miss it sometimes. Read up on the bad with the good but in my sample of 1 it was a great little gun. It did punish my hand after each range session but my hand had it coming. Hell, You've kind of made me want another one.

If you have yet to buy a replacement, why not spend a bit more and pick up a 365? they are tiny and a dream to shoot. It's hard to believe that such a small form factor is so lightly recoiling, but it just is.
