roarindanHow does one get into the Electoral College?
I saw todays news that Bill& Hillary, Andy Cuomo, and his Atty. General are electors in NY. No mention of any Republicans.

chellim1Your State decides how they are chosen so it will be somewhat different State to State. Here in MO, it all starts at the Congressional caucus level where we choose a slate at our Republican caucus. Then it goes to the State caucus. If the Republican candidate, Donald Trump, wins the State then the Republican slate of electors goes to the electoral college.
I haven't had the privilege myself but have several friends who have been electors.
I'm sure Bill & Hillary, Andy Cuomo, etc. are on the Democrat slate which in New York is nearly certain to win. When is the last time New York went for a Republican? I think it was 1984, Reagan.
"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

bobtheelfThere are republican electors and democrat electors. When you vote, you're selecting which electors the state appoints to vote.
I don't know how the parties choose their electors.

LS1 GTOPretty sure there is an application entry "fee" followed by, the acceptance "fee" (if you're selected) and a reoccurring annual "fee."

joel9507First they check your capacitance for following directions. If it's not above a certain level, there will be considerable resistance to your application.
If it's tolerable, though, you may be in line for induction. If rejected, you can always appeal to the circuit court.

CQB60Sadly the vast majority of electoral college delegates in NYS are either City Mayors or Union leaders.
