Just watched the replay of the play in question.
For the record I've long been aware of the game clock posted in the stadium not being the "official" clock.
Having said that, come on, that was not even close.
The posted clock was waaaaay past 0:00 and the ball was waaay OB.
Western Michigan got royally hosed. Anyone who doesn't see that isn't being intellectually honest.

I was talking with a guy last night whose best friend runs the clock for one of the schools in the Big-12. Apparently the clocks for football games aren’t considered to be at zero until -1 second. As it was explained to me, if you look at the clock in a basketball game, they go to the tenth of a second: 2.10 seconds, 1.9 seconds, .5 seconds, etc.

In contrast, Football clocks do not have the tenth of a second feature you see on basketball clocks. So when it reads 0.00 it is considered 0.9and you need to get to -1.0 to be at the end of the game. Put another way, when the clock reads 0.0 seconds, there is officially just under one second left in the game.

Frankly, it seems like a deliberate mistake is put into the system that can and should be corrected.

Sounds like complete bullshit to me. Any chance you guys had been drinking, or smoking dope? Seriously, when the football game/quarter starts the clock reads 15:00, one second later it reads 14:59...When the clock ultimately indicates 0:01, there is but one second remaining, and then it takes one second for it to change to 0:00. There is NO more time left after that.

In basketball the final minute is counted down in tenths of a second, so the clock goes from 01:00 to 0:59.9 seconds. Each second is still one second long, just counted down in tenths of a second. When the clock gets to 0:01.0 that final second, though counted in tenths, is again, only one second long, counting down to 0:00.0 so it's no different than any other game clock. When it gets to all zeros, there is no more time left.

Multiple video angles show the clock at zero and the ball still in the air. At -1 seconds the ball would just be making contact with the WMU player who was standing out-of-bounds. So either way, the call was really bad.

NCAA can go back 5 years and vacate wins for teams where there are infractions for any number of reasons.

For them to not correct this is another part of the NCAA's incompetence on management of the game.

Imagine they want to protect the BIG10, their officials and keep UM as the winner because it has the potential to upset the playoffs significantly if UM shows a loss to a non ranked team.
