For nearly 30 years I thought I was terrified of storms as a kid because of an Elvis movie, turns out it was real life baby Elvis!
So we had some pretty wicked storms roll through last night. My wife hates storms and as soon as the rain starts she is ready to head to the basement. I love to watch the storms roll in on the porch and listen as the rain hits the roof, the lightning flashes and the thunder rolls.

This was not always the case as a kid I was absolutely terrified of storms. I was never in a real serious storm, tornado or anything like that as a kid but what always stuck with me was some black and white footage of crazy storm damage with something to do with Elvis. My mom was a big Elvis fan so I figured we had watched a movie with Elvis in it and there was a bad storm and for whatever reason that stuck with me.
Well last night as my wife and I were discussing the storm and how has a kid I was terrified of storms. Instead of hopping on Sigforum and asking the brain trust what Elvis movie had a storm or Tornado in it as I all I could remember was a tropical and military movie but pretty sure those both were in color.
But instead I googled it
"Elvis Movie with Tornado"
The first thing to pop up was a News Reel from April of 1936 entitled Baby Elvis Escapes Tupelo Tornado 1936. With a bunch of mentions of Elvis' hometown hit by Tornado.

Only thing I can guess is that on the 50th Anniversary on April 5th 1986 some sort of news coverage must have played and I saw it. April 5th 1986 would have been my 3rd birthday. Old enough to remember something about it but not really old enough to know the specific details and my mind tried to fill in the blanks as I got older.

Weird how the mind works sometimes.
