So hope to be getting into this overlanding/off roading a bit more now that the Expedition is a bit more capable.
Sure there are a bazillion overlanding off road channels out there but I would like an easy platform to share with friends, family and folks on some forums.
Being that I am about one of the worlds most unattractive people and my voice is more annoying than anyone in the world other than Ben Shappiro sadly I will never be a million dollar Youtuber.
So just looking for a decent place to upload videos on the web for others to check out and find somewhat easily.
There aren't a whole lot of full size Expeditions out there being modified and actually taken off road.

Youtube is free. Plus your content is indexed in their system via tags. It'll come up in a web search via tags, title, etc.

If you got, say, a Wordpress account and paid extra for video-hosting, you'd still have to post videos on forums to get the web-bots interested - in the beginning.

The more people who linked to your site, the greater SEO you'll have. Search engine optimization. If you create content every week, at least, and post on a forum or two weekly, you'll increase your SEO.

That said, there is a lot to be said for good editing. The first 30 seconds should be carefully presented. Leave nothing to chance. Label / name your videos before uploading. Tag carefully and consistently, but do not over-tag.

If you are looking to share with friends, YouTube is super easy. Uploads are really fast you can crop beginning and end (not editing in middle), and you can set to private so someone must have exact link to view. The last one is nice if you don't want the world to see, but in no way fully prevents the world from seeing it, just doesn't show up in searches for 'expidition'.

I can film something on my smart phone and have it uploaded within minutes of pressing stop on recording. For a simpleton like me it's great.

We use vimeo for hosting.

If you do decide to try and build a business out of it...uploading to several platforms is probably best. I'd never trust youtube to host anything I NEEDED to be there.

What about Instagram? Can one do videos there?

I've used both Youtube and Vimeo for my diving videos. Youtube is super easy. I only used Vimeo once years ago for their, at the time high quality of allowed free upload.

I use it just to share with family and friends. Never tried to monetize anything. I don't have enough views even if wanted to.

Instagram isn't going to do what you want. Short clips at lower res that are designed to be viewed on a smartphone is all Instagram will do.

Sounds like YouTube it is.
Now to come up with a clever name.

I'm sure there are some who would say don't post it anywhere.
