You forgot the most important part. The Right of the People to keep and Bear arms, Shall not be infringed.

Socialist? That's a bit of a leap, and also intellectually dishonest. Language evolves. The proper way to read the Constitution is through the lens of the founders at the time. You know, Originalism.

Also, there is no most important part to the Bill of Rights, it's all important.

But now we're nit picking.

I hope that new gun owners vote Pro 2A come November. I believe some will, but fear it will be as tleo205 suggests. IMHO, so many first time buyers have previously considered guns to not be a part of their World, considering guns to be nasty, loathsome, unsafe devices that may suddenly go off unintentionally. Devices, that only those in the "Gun Culture" could love. Devices they are likely looking to divest themselves of as soon as their sane, common sense "woke" candidates take office next January, and make the U.S. safe for decent people again...

Not trying to be Doom and Gloom, just pragmatic about our current situation...

People that think that you should have to pass a test to exercise a Right are the same ones that move out of shithole states to a free state, and then try to make that state exactly like where they left. They can't mind their own business once they get where they go, and want they want the government controlling people's lives.

Go out and train. Be highly trained.

Can’t disagree a bit. I would like everyone to be highly trained. I would not like the government to require training. It is kind of a strange attitude, I know, to expect folks to be adults and do the right thing. Still I trust everyday folks to do the right thing a whole lot more than I trust the government to force folks to do the right thing.

I’ve seen a whole lot of safe handling demonstrations, and done one or two. My impression was the thrust was to makes sure the buyer understood how to safely load and unload the gun, teach them if they didn’t know how, and have them sign the paper indicating they’d done it to CYA the gun store. I’m pretty sure they were called safe handling demonstrations too, not safe handling tests. I’ve been wrong before though...

The 2nd Amendment is no more a deterent to getting training than the 1st is to learning to read. If you reread what the posts prior to yours, you won't find a single one advocating training as a condition of owning firearms.

A militia of men that have no idea how to use a gun isn't very effective.

Edit to add: And to avoid any confusion, the definition of "regulated" i'm applying is...

: to bring order, method, or uniformity to regulate one's habits

The well regulated part refers having lots of need "arms"- guns, ammo, people, and supplies for "we the people" being supplied by "we the people" due to their right to "keep and bear arms". The founders certainly never intended for the "ruling government" to be able to interfere/meddle with that in any way - "shall not be infringed". One just needs to remember the long and brutal war against tyranny by King George III for freedom and the founders wanted to make sure there was a way for "we the people" to always deal with tyranny even from within.

Yep, sales would skyrocket like never before. Just what the Democrats do not want, and did not expect, with their defund the police BS.

You’re thinking as someone who can predict cause and effect. Leftists have have a near total inability to comprehend unintended consequences when it comes to their policies. They persistently and sincerely believe they can just decree a desired outcome.
