Looking for something to purify the air for our 2nd floor. It is where most of the carpet is and trying to cut down on allergens and the like.
Try to vacuum as much as possible.
Looking for a unit to put in the hallway to cover the bedrooms. The doors are left open during the day and closed at night. Probably a little over 1,000 square feet.
Does not exactly have to be quiet as we run a white noise machine in the hallway as well as each one of the boys room.

I've been happy with this line of products.

Sharp FPF60UW Plasmacluster Ion Air... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B018...CK?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

BUT.... replacement filters may be a little challenging to find depending on your model.

Other than that, been pretty happy with it's sound level and effectiveness.

It works well in auto mode - very quiet until it detects particulates or odors, then it will run at higher speeds until clean.

My allergy doctor had me get an air purifier for the bedroom & gave me a catalog from "Allergy Buyers Club". I picked a company named "Blueair". Best thing I have ever done for my allergies, I use to have a sore throat every freaked morning. I've had the unit a little over a year & I haven't had a single sore throat since I got it. I highly recommend. Only change the filter every 6 months. They also recommended getting rid of our pets & at the very least keeping them out of the bedroom. Well, my dog sleeps with me & that's not gonna happen.

We use a Rabbit Air. They aren't cheap but they do work very well. Helped my wife immensely with her allergy issues.

Yes. I use Blueair purifiers as well. Very effective.

Check Costco online for good deals on their purifiers and replacement filters.

So you're looking to NOT clean the air in the rooms that you spend 1/3 of your life in, when you are in those rooms?

What are you trying to clean out of the air? Can you get rid of the carpet (which if you've ever removed carpeting is absolutely disgusting, and can't really be cleaned)? Do you have forced air heat or A/C, and if so are those clean and filtered?

And make sure your vacuum is a bagger with a HEPA filter.

I have a couple of the Sharp Plasmacluster machines - different model from the one Konata has - and like them a lot. For replacement filters I got some aftermarket ones last year and they seem to do just as good as the Sharp filters, but at less cost.

I also have a TRACS air filter. Pricey, but seems to be an industrial grad unit.

Did not think of it that way.
Was thinking more along the lines of let the machine work most of the day and come home or get ready for bed and the air and junk be cleared out.

Put the carpet in brand new when we moved in 3 years ago so not putting anything else in.
Allergy related issues seem to be more frequent with our boys.
Trying to figure out some nonmedication help. Heard these things actually work pretty well.

The Sharp and Blue Air look nice.
Anyone have a Dyson?

In google searching as well.
This one by Conway comes up as one of the tops in almost all the articles I read.
Coway AP-1512HH Mighty Air Purifier with True HEPA and Eco Mode https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B...cp_api_p0QqBbAPRQ4V3

Amazon Top Choice as well.

Consumer Reports tests these things every couple of years.
I think an online subscription is $35.
Well worth it for researching all kinds of purchases.

I use one in the bedroom when I stay in Houston at my sister's house. Believe it was made by Honeywell many years ago. It works well and also doubles as a white noise generator. Hassock style similar to the Honeywell 50250s currently offered on Amazon.

I have two of them. They're not inexpensive but I think they're well worth it.

I pulled some carpet in my home to install hardwood floors. Once you have seen what accuumulates, even under "clean" and "well vacuumed" carpets, you will never have carpets again.

But I also have this HEPA filter, which has served very well for at least 17 years.
https://www.amazon.com/Envirac...-62500/dp/B000N8C2NM

I am not sure if still available. The key ingredient is a LARGE circular filter. The filter itself is lifetime; just blow it out every year or so with compressed air. It also has a carbon foam "blanket" that wraps around it as a pre-filter. The downside is that it has a very powerful motor, so even at the lowest setting it is noisy. You don't want it in the same room while you sleep.

Thanks for all the input folks.
I ended up with the Conway. It was in the top 3 in nearly all the comparisons I read.
The Winix was right up there too but is supposed to cost more over the span of 5 years taking into account energy consumption and filter longevity.
Amazon offered 5 monthly payments and I get 5% back so figured I would give it a go.

Hopefully we’ll see a noticeable difference.

I meant to reply to the OP earlier but got busy. While the OP has already purchased a filter, I still thought I would respond in case a member in the future had a similar question.

I have two of the filters listed by Crom. I bought them to filter out smoke about 25 years ago in the office building I worked in (we had a smoker). I then used them to filter out dust when my parents were remodeling their home. This year, I have been using them to filter out smoke particles inside our house from the forest fires that have been plaguing the western United States. After 25 years, I did decide to replace the original filters and the charcoal pre-filter. Surprisingly, there were multiple vendors, including US made filters, that were available.

As mentioned, they are noisy so we turned them down at night. We put one in our master-bedroom and it made a noticeable difference in air quality during the worst of the 2021 forest fires. Now that the forest fires are not a problem, they’ll go back into storage for the next event.
