Our ancient dishwasher is acting up and I suspect it's not got much life left.
Anyone have a brand or model they're really happy with?
Any new gee whiz features I should look for?
This one is about 14 years old and the one I had before that wasn't much newer so I've not kept up on dishwasher technology if there is any.

Gene HillmanWe've had good luck with Kitchen-Aid. There are a number of good discussions here on brands folks like and ones to stay away from. Do a little searching. There isn't a solid consensus.

I see some mid range Bosch units ($500) any idea if they are as good as the high end ones?

henryaz My wife got fed up with the electronic, touch pad computer dishwashers. We bought a Frigidaire FBD2400KW for $400 at Lowes. It is a mechanical model, with a single dial to select cycles and drying options. It has "just worked" for a few years now, with no issues. It cleans the dishes and dries them, which all we ask for.

urbanwarrior238A few years back a member here on the forum recommended a Maytag. Best appliance I ever purchased and from here on out will only buy Maytag.

bobandmikakoOur last Bosch lasted 7-8 years. It was one of their cheaper models. I was going to buy another Bosch, but they were sold out everywhere at the time. We ended up with a mid-priced Kitchenaid and have been happy with it.

tatortoddWhen I lived in Calgary '14 to '16, the very upscale townhouse I rented had a Bosch dishwasher. I have no idea of the price, but it's cleaning performance was the worse dishwasher I had in my adult life. My employer moves me every few years so I've owned or rented a lot of homes/condos/townhouses/apartments.
And before anyone asks:
yes, I had cleaned the Bosch's filter and no improvement in cleaning effectiveness.
yes, I was using consumer reports' recommended dishwasher soap

We bought a $449 Model with stainless interior in Mar 2015. It is super quiet, cleans great & the filter is in the bottom front for easy cleaning. Easy to install & have had zero problems. The dishwasher is run about 8 times a week.

I believe that the member who recommended Maytag was Appliance Brad.
I looked for the model that he recommended; it was not longer manufactured. There was a similar model number in stock, it turned out that the only difference was the style of the handle on the door.
Costco has Maytag dishwashers on sale fairly often.

doublesharpWhirlpool Corporation has the greatest number of brands in its portfolio. In addition to its namesake brand, Whirlpool also owns Jenn-Air, KitchenAid, Maytag, Amana, and Roper. Brands share parts, factories, and even designs—but exist for different target audiences.
I buy nothing but Whirlpool. Seldom need service but when I do I'm glad I bought WP.

WarhorseJim, I wouldn't want to buy your dishwasher, but I wouldn't mind occasionally renting one!
